I have heard that the pitching coach there was solid.I think he moved for other reasons. He went to Maryland, has he moved again? There were some players that left, it was discussed a lot on rivals, com When being recruited it is good to do your homework, but impossible to find out everything about a program from the inside out.I agree talking to a parent who has their son there is a good idea.

Thank you URKMB, It was nice to meet you also and and to se your son throw (extemely well also - our coach and catcher were impressed on how well he hid the ball). I believe rankings will com out this week and expect to see DLS #1 and MV should be top 5 easy.

Re: Playing year round
I agree with Bob, I think in Florida we are held to a different standard of sorts. The fall is the most important time for a player to be seen by a college coach, true the pro scout will see him in the high school season. I have had many players sign college scholarships and the coach has never asked about high school baseball, by the way I am also a High School coach. Our players play from late August till end of October with maybe one event in November. Start back with High School in Jan...

Re: QUICKER FEET and RELEASE
Let me first refer you to Xan Barksdale who publishes regularly on these pages. You can do a search by poster and just put in Barksdale. Or go right to his web site: www.catching101.com . OK, so having said that, one of the better habits my catcher son got into at a young age was to play catch as though he were always positioning himself for a throw down to 2nd. What I mean by that, if words can describe, is that he tries to always shuffle his feet on receipt so that the rear foot is behind...

I would go to the ASMI web site. They have docs there who can answer questions and refer you to a good doctor who has trained at ASMI. In case you don't know who they are, any time you hear of a MLB guy getting surgery, they are the ones doing it. They are the premier medical facitility for pitchers. Here is a link to their forum site http://asmiforum.proboards21.com/index.cgi#baseball Good luck to you and your son.

Online there's espn3.com, clicking on tv on any given college's school on their website (assuming the game is being broadcast, and conference websites. The second two require a fee. On tv there's Fox and CBS Regional Sports. As soon as basketball is over these sites ramp up coverage.

Re: Need help with next step
Sounds like you've made a decent attempt to be seen however you aren't getting any interest from the schools. If nothing else happens over the next few months it will/(is?) be time to work on a development plan to get you to a 4 year school (i.e JC path). You need to find a coach that is interested in you as a player, not some "no risk" potential walk-on player. Good players and those needing a little development get overlooked all the time and they get a second chance by playing JC ball. I...

CollegeParentNoMore, right now my summer team is comprised of all SSU, SRJC and COM rising freshmen and sophomores and one rising senior. Many of the kids from my town seem to make the SRJC team with ease even if they are middle of the road, non-standout players but this is mostly my observation over the past few years. I have recently been directed to talk with the SRJC coach, from a local, as to increase my options. From this thread I have changed the direction of schools that I am seeking...

Re: Need help with next step
Do college coaches watch these games? IF pro scouts watch that would be a plus. Although its probebely to late you might want to go with a summer team that is playing in some showcase tournaments. You might be able to hook up with some teams in need of tournament players late summer and/or fall. My son used to play for SR Connie Mack, not sure what the choices are these days in SR, but they sometimes looked for tournament players towards the end of summer as kids dropped off the roster or...

Just wanted to share, the 2011 American Legion World Series had 86,000 paid attendance. All 15 games of The American Legion World Series were aired live on ESPN3.com. And the number of fans who came out to Keeter Stadium to support the eight regional champions created history. During Game 9 on Sunday, the Legion World Series reached a record total paid-attendance crowd of more than 60,000, beating the record established 75 years ago in Spartansburg, S.C. Re: heavier baseballs?
Go and read ******.com site... They talk a lot about over/underload training. But they also recommend the 20% rule... My sons use, 6 oz, 7 oz, and 3, oz and 3.5 oz balls.... when we do this in the off-season. Since my sons do a full regiment of drills I can't say one helps more than another... Long Toss is still the main staple... and we don't use the the weighted balls during the main season. Incrediballs (T-balls) are great for the underload... I believe they weigh 3.5 oz.... Smoky1, "Ive been watching Ben Sheets delivery on mlb .com and his body looks so much faster than mine" Aha, your on the right track if your intentions are concerning velocity! imo. If you can come up with a clip of Brad Radke check him out, quite possibly the easiest delivery you will ever see for a power pitcher, effortless. Greg Maddux is a freak, hes certainly no power pitcher and he certainly has perhaps the best pinpoint control of any pitcher that been around for a long long time. That...

Re: Nicknames
With a last name like Bonesteele, you can imagine the gaggle of nicknames that come up ... a couple that aren't printable. Most of the time it's simply 'Bones'. One parent on our club team calls him El Fuego ... he's been the 3 or 4 hole guy on our club teams for a couple years now. Don't mean to be long winded ... but this really is a funny story: since I work in eBusiness, I created a personal website for my son (it's free to me). Re: Paralleling Catching Mechanics w/ Pitching and Hitting
I'll kind of paraphrase a concept I took away from watching Dave Weaver's video (www.catchingcamp.com)... Anything that takes your momentum anywhere other than directly at your target is going to slow down your delivery and impact your accuracy. The T drill is very good for addressing this issue. If you have never seen it, I highly recommend the DVD above. Xan Barksdale's site (catching-101.com) also has some very good material.
