Re: Select teams and showcases hurting baseball?

What I have seen over the ;ast 20 years has been unbelieveable. Elit teams firts hit the scene about 20 years ago in our area. We had organizations with 6000 kids registered with Ontario BB Assoc. It was mainly voluteer and still is. It was not always great ball and coaching depending on where you lived. However it did provide good competition and some very good training. Elite teams came along and depleted those teams as far as top players. They provided at a fee professional coaching and...

Re: Considering Easton EPG (Professional Series) glove for my son. Any opinions on their quality?

Hope it's not too late to help you out. Long story short, Easton's EPG series is the best pro level glove on the market in my opinion... especially considering the price at which they can be obtained. Retail price is comparable to most top of the line gloves, but buying on Ebay is the way to go. I have several models myself (12.75, 12, and 1b). The japanese tanned steer hide is ideal. Extremely durable, holds shape, yet remains pliable and they are the most light weight gloves I've ever...

Re: First Pitch Strikes

BobbleheadDoll ·
Yes you do have to command the strike zone but the guession is about giving in. I can site examples of both situations were my son pitches out of the zone and others were he throws strikes. Last season he threw his 1st 14 pitches against a nationally ranked D1 college for strikes. It depends on how his best stuff is working and it doesn't always work. No pitcher is on all the time. Here is a clip that he fell behind 3-0 and came back into the zone. This was pre college against an elit team.

Re: Team Ont, OBJ...etc

BobbleheadDoll ·
I had heard that Oakville was expensive but so is T O Inc and the OBJ is the most expensive. Probably Bullet Proof ($5500) and the Niagara Rebels ($4800) are the cheapest around but that is a long drive. What about Team Toronto ? The cost had esccalated since my son played. Some of the teams will let you wotk out all winter for approx $500. and they will often make an offer to play next season. Also try the T-Birds. They have one of the best workout programs but can also get pricy.

Re: To throw or not to throw

BobbleheadDoll ·
In our area the development of elite teams and winter programs was to as best as possible get our players to a level they could compete with the warm climate players. We have over 700 players playing US ball and I would suggest that without our winter programs we would have a lot less. Our AAA city teams played until labor day and did not start up until may. No winter programs. The coaches knew that they needed more and developed the elit teams and all year programs. It worked.
