Re: COVID-19 Data from PBR and PG

Heard nothing official from PG/PBR in 3 months of events here in GA. And frankly hear nothing through the grapevine. I can’t imagine how they would track it, or if would frankly even be legal. Son’s org had 1 potential case in a younger age group. Teammates were asked to quarantine till test results came back, but thankfully it was negative. Overall, for the most part people I saw seemed to take it seriously and treat it with caution....aside from the dipsh!t kid who forgot his water one...

COVID-19 Data from PBR and PG

BaseballDad72 ·
Hi All. High school athlete parents are currently trying to get our kids back playing sports, even in a modified 5-week season, yet our local officials will not provide data benchmarks as to why and what criteria need to be met for a return to play. Does any know/have contacts with PG and PBR that are tracking cases at this summer and fall's tournaments? My son played a full summer schedule including both the 16U and 17U WWBA in East Cobb and we heard anecdotally of one kid that might have...

All I can say ... I drove my kid 2 hrs to play in a PG tournament game, only after our arrival did I learn the game was cancelled. third-hand parent whispers said the other team's coach had Covid. The covid team stayed in the tournament pool yielding a forfeit one day (one game) at a time. Some parents said teams were vanishing from their pool schedule routinely each weekend in the NY/NJ regional PG tournaments. No official communications from PG on the subject to the players registered to...

Grand Park was doing various studies this summer; one published here: https://journals.iupui.edu/ind...j/article/view/24144 But, this was a survey done in May, and was more about what people expected, than about numbers of cases. My impression is that all sports except for college and professional have been acting under a "don't ask, don't tell" policy, so I wouldn't think you would find any numbers.

Where do you live and what are the schools currently doing? Good luck with PG or PBR sharing any info. My guess is they intentionally didn't track that stuff. I wouldn't have tracked it if I were them.

PG did track Covid - gave it 7.5 score and invited it to the next national showcase

We had THE PG official (the founder) as a regular participant on the board for many years until a group of posters a few years ago hassled him so badly he left. He only did things like get poster’s kids into tournaments and on teams who missed deadlines. He was a straight shooter. He told posters PG isn’t for everyone. Some posters were still upset PG was willing to take anyone’s money. They also blamed him for the weather.

I know of one 16u Georgia team that had to withdraw from a PG tournament because a player tested positive a few days before the event. The team shut down for two weeks while they all got tests. No one else was positive.
