Bogeyorpar's D3 Academic-Baseball College Ranking

Bogeyorpar ·
I had too much turkey and nothing else to do during the Thanksgiving weekend, so I decided to create a college ranking system that reflect both academic and baseball strength. The formula is very simple: 1. Take academic ranking from WSJ/Times 2017 College Ranking. The reason: this list ranks universities and LACs and Regionals together, so we don't have the problem of Williams/Amherst ranking the same as Princeton/Harvard. 2. Take D3 ranking from Massey Rating system. It ranks 380 D3...

It is April 7 and WB has only 4 games left with the old SED and only 2 after this week. Rest of schedule is Peninsula and Florida teams. They play GF and OS in a4 day span a month from now but that might be it against the SED for them. These strings might need to be retitled to Ches./Suffolk Baseball. Take WB in this one but I expect the River to show up.

Re: Nanesmond River all over South County

Go Dawgs ·
Just got back to Suffolk after watching an exciting game. Just a note on the back and forth here...yes the field was small and I was intrigued by the severity of the slope from the plate to the outfield. Standing behind the outfield fence the batters box area had to be six feet higher which makes the field play even smaller. HOWEVER...both teams took advantage of the small field with 3 HRs each. Bottom line South County outhit Nansemond River 17 to 10. They are a very good team and will be...

My predictions: 1. Cape Henry - defending State Champions. Returning 8 starters from last years team including one of the top pitchers (Wynkoop) in the area. New coaching staff looks good but has a tough act to follow. 2. Greenbrier Christian - defending TCIS Conference Champions. Went 2-1 agains Cape Henry last year. Beat them in the regular season in 15 innings, beat them in the conference tournament and lost to them in the state tournament. Lost some key players (including their shortstop...

Re: Virginians in the MLB Draft

I have not researched the specific reason why Mr. Ballou was eligible but there are a couple of possibilities. (1) possibly he entered college with some credit hours from AP courses and had completed his junior year academically. (2) possibly he turned age 21 by the deadline for being considered in this year's draft.

If I have correctly identified all of the Virginia teams at the 17u WWB, the Virginia teams went 8-2 on Saturday. Canes Baseball defeated the Illinois Sparks, 8-2, pounding out 11 hits. Josh Henderson, Suffolk, went 2-3. Cole Irvin pitched the complete game for the Canes. Canes Prospects defeated America’s Future Prospects, 10-2 in a run-rule shortened game. Tyler Best, (Hickory HS), went 2-4 at the plate. Josh Wright pitched the complete game for the win. Orioles Scout Team defeated the NJ...

Ryanrod- The only place the subway runs is within the 5 boroughs. There is the Long Island Railroad, which runs from both Nassau and Suffolk Counties (the two counties on Long Island) in and out of the city. However, Stony Brook is pretty far out east on Long Island and I could be wrong, but I believe mileage wise it's closer to the Hamptons than NYC.
