WB Reporter ·
Two sources (always good to have multiple sources!) (1) Scorekeeper for King's Fork and (2) article in the newspaper - Suffolk News-Herald. Some info on the game - Travis Cherry pitched the first half of the game for KF and Nick Bowman the second half. Bowman struck out 6 in the final three innings. David Waterfield, the starting pitcher for LL, threw approximately 126 pitches. KF jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Sounds like the whole line-up was hitting...

Re: WHERE ARE THEY AT

baseballfan777 ·
I dont know who made 27xwc the king of opinions but sir (or mam) you are surely mistaken. Have you ever heard of a rebuilding year? This Hawks program has been in the hunt every year for at least the past six to seven seasons. They have produced many great players that have gone on to play at the next level. For you to call them out is a big mistake. Hickory has always had the ability to play great at any time. Believe me I would know I used to play their. I believe your assessment was...

Re: WHERE ARE THEY AT

My bad I guess anyone from Hickory would say its a rebuilding year if at least 6 of their players left or quit. I saw alot of young 10th graders in the dugout area not typical of this program and as for Suffolk wrong on both counts grew up in your neck of the woods. I am sure they will bounce back but only if the problem within is resolved maybe if you could admit it everyone of the players that are elsewhere would have started in last nites game and the ones not playing did they just loose...

The southside has the Eastern District which are Norfolk/Portsmouth teams which Bob Uecker posted to start this thread. Southeastern District is comprised of Chesapeake/Suffolk schools (WB, IR, GB, GF, Hickory, OSmith, NRiver, Kings Fork, Deep Creek, Lakeland) Beach District is comprised of Va Beach teams (Kellam, Cox, OL, PA, First Colonial, Bayside, Salem, Landstown, Green Run, Tallwood, and Kempsville)

Re: Relocating Need Help(Info)

cpkebaseballdad ·
Let me stir the pot with some of the good folks on this site. There are many fine public shcool programs around Chesapeake and Va Beach. However, you should not overlook the private school programs in the area. In fact, over the last few years some of the strongest programs have come from the private schools. Greenbrier Christian, Cape Henry, Atlantic Shores and Nansemond Suffolk all come to mind.

Re: Best of the Best

Ace 45 ·
va, I must butt in. I must. As far as GCA’s schedule, the AD and coach tried to get some of the best teams in the area and state to play with this year. We even had a tournament here in order to get some great teams to play without traveling out of the area. I see no reason for us to spend thousands of dollars to play NC and SC teams when there is much better talent right here (Tidewater or VA). Weak schedule?? We played Lawrence Academy from NC who was in first place in their district until...

Nansemond Suffolk is the team to knock off Greenbriar this year. However, nothing is certain, from what I have heard a few Atlantic Shores players transferred there this year and once again aide in the re-loading process, but, Lavelle has built a very legit and credible program. Apart from the few named earlier, Norfolk Academy has a solid pitcher returning in John Beasley, but with the teams lack of experience It will be tough for him to do well. Also, Cape Henry returns an all-conference...

I'm not sure if he is thier ace but Josh Richardson ('09) is sure to give Greenbrier some quality innings this year. He is an upper 80's RHP that has proven himself against top competition in travel ball. Nansemond Suffolk has a solid pitcher/utility player in Christian Upchurch.
