I don't know about you but I find all the posting of early committments as a bit frivolous--nothing is a done deal until the NLI is signed---right now the coach cannot even talk about the prospect---right now most of it is hearsay I much prefer to see the list when the NLI is signed

Early Recruit Signing

Jlr58 ·
I am new to this forum and very appreciative to have found it. My son is a 2020 and will be our first to go through the recruiting process. Both his mother and I played collegiate sports but that was too long ago and it appears the recruiting process has evolved over the years. My question is this; If coaches are not allowed to contact players how are they entering into a verbal commitment with Freshman, Sophomores etc? Do the players initiate and make all of the contact? My son is outgoing...

The University of Tennessee nabbed both of the county's elite left-handed pitchers and three more Dade stars Wednesday, the first day of the national weeklong early signing period for athletes in sports other than football and s****r. Athletes who don't sign with a school before Nov. 16 must wait until the late signing period begins April 12

Verbal committment - now what?

My son verballed this weekend to a mid D1 with excellent academics - we're pumped! The school has sent the remaining academic record requirements and he has received a likely letter from admissions regarding entry after meeting them (looks like routine paperwork, the guts were already sent as part of the process). The coaches have said to make sure he marks early decision and they will be in contact regarding NLI procdures etc. I guess my question is, all the admissions piece is close to

Verbal Committments

scbaseball ·
When a player makes a verbal committment early in the recruiting process (Summer/Early Fall), is there any type of document that guarantees that the scholarship amount agreed upon several months earlier will still be there when the early signing date arrives in November. It seems that without any document, a player could really come up on the short end if a coach is at liberty to change the amount at signing time.

Verbal Committments to Colleges

I read an article about the negative side of verbal committments to high school prospects. The following is an excerpt..... The NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has just issued new proposed legislation that would stop early verbal offers in all sports. They say they've heard from coaches, prospects and families who felt pressured to make decisions earlier without the necessary information or academic qualifications. The proposal would prohibit verbal offers of athletically

Early LOI signing for JUCO

Early Decision

Does applying and being accepted EDprevent you from going to another Ivy if that's where you apply? Or D3 if that's where you apply? What about going to a different level- such as how being accepted ED at a D3 affects applying at a D2? Sorry, I've tried to search this and can't quite find all the info I'm looking for.

How Early is Too Early to Contact College Coach?
