These rankings ae compiled by "subjective" sources ... unless there is a more compelling system for evaluation then let's not get "offended" with the rankings --- I am sure that depending on you ask, Hall may be #1, Garcia may be #1, Colon may be #1, it is so subjective AND there is absolutely no quantitative analysis because PBR does not have detailed reports on every player in the State. Use this as motivation to be the best in the State!! As a city guy Wildcats has some perceptions to overcome BUT don't miss his point --- some people actually use the rankings as the "Truth" (no slam on PBR - they do a good job of identifying players to watch) HOWEVER, let's be honest, there is no system to actually "rank" these high school players individually -- top categories maybe (i.e. top prospects, high prospects, players to watch) but to say this player is #1 and this player is #35 is somewhat ridiculous based on the limited info available. One way to get this resolved is to have the "top prospect" players play against each other BUT that is a real stretch given that we cannot get our so-called high-level travel teams to play each other Confused --- Let's have a great season!!!
Who is the best shortstop in Major League Baseball? Along the lines of what Mike@Crush posted, I doubt that every poster on this forum would come up with the same name.

My nephew wasn't even on PBR's radar his junior year. Suddenly showed up this year after signing to play in the SEC for college ball.

Play the game, have fun, always hustle and if you possess the talent, you will be noticed.

Wildcats,

Just play your game and don't get caught up in all this ranking stuff. Let your glove and your bat do the talking.......and ranking! Who cares what you are ranked, or where? Focus on being the best you can be(on and off the field, especially in the class room). You're from the city, so you will never get the same respect. You're fighting against years and years of the bad reputation, that players from the Public League has to endure, year in, and year out. It's that plain and simple.

I hope I do not see you on here again worrying about what you have no control over youngman. Not trying to tell you what to do or, bad mouth you.....but it kind of makes you look like a player that is caught up on the wrong stuff. SHOW THEM WHAT YOU SAY YOU ARE MADE OF!!! PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

By the way, in my opinon, you are one of the top 5 SS in the State!

Good luck to you!
Wild Cats, you obviously have a lot of talent. Let that always do your speaking for you. I once coached a young man named Tommy Price. He was incrediable and if you go look at some of the pitching records for the University of Notre Dame, he's in there a lot. I once asked him, "Tommy why don't you ever talk about yourself?" His answer, "Coach, if you're truly good, you won't have to talk about yourself. Everyone else will be doing that for you." He was a very bright young man. Wild Cats, Good luck this year. It begins in just a few days!

Save your reactions for the field.. Think before you react off the field... Pretty simple things that can help.

I have seen that a few guys on the site have tried to explain the importance of keeping your emotions under control. Obviously you don't get it. Maybe I can add a couple things for you to consider that I have seen through my experiences.

1) Guys who talk to much never go on.
2) Guys who talk to much are turn offs for scouts.
3) Guys who talk to much are usually showing weakness.
4) Guys who talk to much are selfish players.
5) Guys who talk to much lose on a regular basis.

I could keep going but I think you understand where I am coming from.
To me there is nothing better then the player who can get it done and in the same sentence you hear about how good of a person he is too.

Raffy, I have not seen this player in you , I have seen a kid willing to do the work it takes to go on. Keep working for your goals and dreams and don't let anybody or any lists get in the way of that. You will control where you end up. Keep the self confidence you have bottled up and use it to your advantage and not disadvantage.
Play hard, play serious, play smart, but have fun too. Its supossed to be.
