I do not think so if it is classified a Freshmen team. Usually schools have a couple of JV teams and no freshmen team at all. One is comprised of mostly freshmen with a few sophomores sprinkled in and one has sophomores and juniors. Our all freshmen team plays 80% of their games against JV squads since most of the teams in our district have 2 JV teams and no Freshmen team. Bottom line, if the coach is placing kids where he thinks they best fit developmentally, that is all that really matters.

Also, if they use the two JV squads, they are allowed to play one more tournament, thus more games than if classified as a freshman team.

A player can play in 17 games and 3 tournaments or 19 games and 2 tournaments. See http://uil.utexas.edu/athletic...ort-season-games.pdf

A JV team cannot play an extra tournament...each individual player is limited as stated above.

Also, it matters not what grade a player is in. A senior can play on the freshman team if a coach wishes. Not sure why they would, but they can place the players where they wish.
