To answer an earlier question... The top West Coast players, nearly all of them, over the past 10 years or more have played in Jupiter. Delmon Young, Adam Jones, Gerrit Cole, Bryce Harper, Strasburg, Craig, Dominic Smith, etc.

Sittin' home while son and mom experience Jupiter
We finished our last pool game and are moving on. We are in the pool that has a play in game to make the final 16. Our team wasn't mentioned in any of the previews. It just shows you that anything can happen in baseball. Our reward is playing in the stadium at 10:20 tomorrow morning!!
My son is having a poor tournament so far but he knows tomorrow is another day.

That's when my kid will go 4 for 4 and dive for a ball up the middle to save the game when his mom takes him......
The WWBA was crazy cool this past weekend. Congrats to all the teams that are still in and playing. It was a site to behold to see that many scouts in one area. Although, some of them need to take lessons on driving golf carts! The weather was great and the baseball was even better! This is just one photo of a "small"group of scouts at one of the games. I should have taken some more but was too caught up in the games! Maybe PG or someone has some more...it was awesome!

We returned from Jupiter at one this morning. It was quite a run for my son's team. Two of his comments on the way home really made me realize that all of these years of travel ball were worth it.
1. " Mom, what a way to end my travel ball career. I got to face the best of the best tonight. I got to hit tonight against two of the best pitchers in my class (one got tournament MVP) and now I definitely know that I can compete. Anything can happen in baseball if the top 12 pitchers in your program are on one team but you get the guys that are still developing and are hungry to prove themselves. That's why we made it to the Final 8."
2. My son thanked me for all of the years I was by his side during this journey. I accepted his thanks and told him that I enjoyed the time we got to spend together, the many life-long friends we made, and watching him grow into a fine young man.

Lefthookdad, I second your sentiments. My son's team had a great start, taking one of the pre-tournament favorites, the Cardindals Scout Team / FTB Chandler, deep into Game 1 with a two-run lead (with Edgar Jr. getting our first hit and scoring our first run), but ultimately his team was a bit too young and not deep enough to make any noise. Unfortunately Edgar Jr. sprained a knee on a slide and therefore didn't get the time or have the tournament he wanted to have, but he's a Junior so he has another shot at it next year. We both had a great time, and came away super-impressed with the talent there, and the tight ship PGStaff and his people run down there. Absolutely first class! BTW, loved the picture and have one of my own to share. This is of Edgar Junior's first PA against the Cardinals Scout Team mentioned above - just milliseconds before the swing that produced our first tournament hit (not bad for an iPhone pic...).. I'll treasure it for that reason, but share it here because the background really shows just how crowded with scouts these games are! It really gives you a flavor of the games down in Jupiter.
