A great interview on 60 Minutes with the crew of 1549, including some fascinating perspective from Captain Chesley Sullenberger. An incredible man, an incredible story. 60 Minutes
It is so uplifting to watch those video segments, remember what an exceptional thing "Sully" did, and be thankful, so thankful, for the 155 lives (and quite probably more on the ground) he saved.
I have a friend who was an American Airlines captain for 30 years. He said the chances of a successful ditching were very minimal. The captain and crew were exception and exceptionally lucky My friend feels that the luck was possible because of the great skill and training of the captain.
What Sully did reminds me of any of our four kids who see a replay highlight of a particularly spectacular defensive play. I've heard them respond after watching by saying "impossible!"
My response to them? "No, not impossible. You just saw him make the play. You can do it too!"
