Looking for comments to help decide between two very good summer teams with good following and results for top players. Team A proposes to play my son on their top 16U team even though my son is a 2011 grad. His birthday will allow him to compete on 16U. Team B proposes that he plays on their top 17U team. Both A and B compete in top national and state events, but obviously there will be a difference in age groups. We want to be sure he gets exposure to college recruiting this coming summer and fall. Thanks for any constructive comments.

Play with your grade level. We run out entire program based on grade. Stanwood makes a great point. One other thing that can be brought up and I have had this discussion with some college coaches. They figured the player wasn't good enough to play at his own grade level so they could possibly think he is not good enough to play with his own grade.
Team A is looking for a trophy and national ranking and Team B is looking out for your son. Although alot of colleges are begining to look for talent as early as 9th graders the reality that all college coaches spend there summers looking at INCOMING SENIORS...There is a reason why the 17U WWBA East-Cobb Event is sold out by this time every year.

College coaches for the most part don't scout seniors during the summer because if you're a senior and graduated and still arent committed to a school..there will be three reasons..1. No Grades 2. Not Good Enough or 3. Fell through the cracks and most recruiters will tell you "don't call me to see a senior unless he's OFF THE CHARTS and Fell through the cracks"

There is a reason why MOST Top Level Showcase Summer Teams carry a 17U squad..because that teams will draw more attention from recruiters because it has 20 incoming seniors with great talent level and you multiple that time 10 teams at a minimum its a lot of players for colleges to recruit from.

Go with Team B all the way....Team A is just concerned with a trophy and national ranking.

Hope that this helps...
