Jake McSteen of Langley almost single-handedly knocked Hayfield out of district play. Dominating performance.

Nice one. My wife and her 4 siblings graduated from Hayfield, I live across the street from Hayfield, my son played Hayfield JV, and you just insulted Hayfield. I guess we should move to a real school so maybe, just maybe, my son might have a chance to do something respectable. Guess what you can do now...? Dialogue me if you need clarification.

Just because the clan all went there doesn't mean they still have a good program. It's a weak conference or district they play in, so leave it at that tough guy.

The "all it comes down to is stats" response doesn't wash. Now that stats are accessible via game changer you have to be careful. On one hand it doesn't allow HS coaches to engineer stats as easily plus the raw data is out there for the public to see. As an example, one all region position player had 2 hits in his last 10 games per his teams game changer entries. 2 hits! 10 games is almost half the season. If you deny the politics, you have your head in the sand or up the arse of your HS coach.

I used to be a coach in the Northern Region. I don't understand why every year there are major complaints about the all-whatever teams.  People complain when the coaches select too many kids and say the team is watered down.  Then when the coaches make tough decisions and select less kids they are all politicking so that one kid gets left out.  The bottom line is the coaches do the best job they can to select a team they feel is filled with deserving kids.

All the coaches at the meetings have an opportunity to speak about their kids. My understanding is in the new format each district was represented by the four coaches who's teams qualified for the Regional tournament. Wether one kid hit 15 points higher than someone else may not be the only factor they consider in selecting the team.  If the kid is a leader, came up big in the big games, who the hits came off of (4-4 vs. weak teams vs. 2-4 against strong teams probably holds more weight), defensive ability, base running, etc are all factors that are considered.  Not to mention the opinions of other coaches who played against the kids.

Obviously there are many talented baseball players throughout the districts, regions and state.  To infer that there is a conspiracy to keep some kids off or get some kids on is really ridiculous.  The bottom line is the coaches picked who they thought were the best and who they thought had the best season this year.

I have watched a lot of games this season and I can't argue with any of the selections they made.

Well said.  I personally feel like every player on the list above deserved their spot.
