Alright gurus...I want to challenge you here.
If you could only use 2 drills to teach young kids how to hit AND to help veteran players CONTINUE to hit, what would you choose?
I realize many of you will say the staples of baseball: quick toss, tee work, short B.P., etc. However, I am interested in some OTHER things you'd have kids work on.
We do routines every day that involve 8 stations that the kids go through - 5 minutes per station. Would like to add something really good in the 8th station.
Thanks - Coach KNight

I Like a quick stick drill. When we were kids we played stick ball all the time. Now I include a station that has a wooden dowel about 30 (ooops inch not foot, Roll Eyes) long and 1 (ooops inch not foot, I did it twice Roll Eyes) round. I toss pinto beans to them. Small bat small target. Not sure if this could be included in one of the best but we like it and the kids are excited when they hit such a small target.

My 11 yo has gotten into the habit of spitting out sunflower seeds and trying hit them on the way down.

On a day where my son doesn't get any BP he goes in the garage and hits 25 off the hands back hitter and self tosses another 25 with a golf wiffle ball. We'll probably up the # of self tosses so he gets more reps.

I wish the kids would play 3 flys up, etc. like we used to. Helped you learn to control and adjust your swing.
