I'm Back!

The Dolphins start off the year with a home bout against the Stallions of Green Run.

So far, after the Top of 2 it is 0-0.

Staff Ace Shawn Morimando found himself with the start on the bump today looking to get the season off on the right foot. So far, Shawn has struggled with his control having 2 BB's and a HBP, yet he has 3 K's through 2 IP. He found some trouble in the Top of the Second but managed a strikeout with runners on 1st and 2nd to get the Fins out of a jam.

Offensively in the bottom of 1 the Dolphin bats were held quiet aside from a warning track flyout to left field for Alex Lambert.

Now in the bottom of 2 the Dolphins have 2 runners on, via Casey Bryant single and a Pat Ryan HBP, with none out. Austin Fraguoles (sp) then comes up big with a double down the LF line driving in Casey Bryant and leaving runners at 2nd and 3rd, none out with Zach Jackman coming to the plate.

The score is now OL-1 GR-0

In Zach Jackmans AB he hit a Sac Fly scoring the runner from 3rd making the score 2-0 Ocean Lakes. Riley Koonce at the plate next took a HBP putting runners at the corners with 1 out. Killian Strenn then took the first pitch he saw for a ground out to the SS where a fielders choice got the out at 2nd, but scored the run from 3rd. Strenn then stole 2nd and Christian Bethelmy strikes out the second time in as many at bats to end the threat for the Dolphins.

After 2 Innings the score is now
Ocean Lakes-3 Green Run-0
In the Top of 3, the leadoff for Green Run rolls over a grounder to Strenn at 3rd where he mishandles it and the runner is safe at 1st on the Error. Morimando comes back to sit the next batter down via strikeout and the runner on first gets caught in a rundown leaving none on and 2 out for Green Run in the top half. Next batter is HBP by Morimando as control problems still show but he is able to fly out the next batter to end the top half of the 3rd.

Score is still 3-0 OL.
In the Bottom of 3, Alex Lambert led things off for the Dolphins with a 4 pitch walk. Shawn Morimando then flew out for the first out of the inning. Lambert took second on a wild pitch before Bryant smashed a double scoring Lambert, making the score 4-0. Pat Ryan coming to the plate next lined out the 3rd giving 2 down with Frangoules coming to the plate. Frangoules then walked putting runners at 1st and 2nd with 2 down. Zach Jackman then struck out for the Dolphins ending another threat and leaving 2 runners on base.

At the end of 3:
Ocean Lakes-4 Green Run-0
In the Bottom of 4 Riley Koonce struck out to led off the inning for OL putting 1 down. Strenn then followed the strike out with a single through the left side and Bethelmy put the ball in play to 2nd where the 2nd baseman misplayed the ball putting runners at 1st and 2nd with 1 out.

Lambert in his next AB hit a sac fly moving Strenn to third with Morimando coming to the plate and 2 outs. Strenn then scored during Morimando's AB on a wild pitch making the score now 5-0 with 2 outs and a man on 2nd. Morimando ended up walking and Bryant at the plate next hit a deep flyout to the warning track to end the inning.

Score after 4 innings:
Ocean Lakes-5 Green Run-0
In the Top of the 5th Shawn Morimando's control struggles continued but are being helped by the OL defense. After a leadoff walk was drawn by Green Run, the next batter then grounded into a double play, leaving none on and 2 out. But the next two batters would walk and be HBP putting runners for Green Run on 1st and 2nd with 2 out.

Once again, Morimando would find composure and come back to strike out the last batter on a dropped third strike. C. Bryant would throw him out at first for the assist. The Stallions have yet to score with leaving at least 5 runners on base and 3 in scoring position. Score still 5-0 Ocean Lakes with Rat Ryan due to lead off for the Dolphins in the Bottom Half of the inning.

Leading off the Bottom of 5, Pat Ryan singled bringing Frangoules to the plate. Frangoules though, would stike out for the first out of the inning. After Zach Jackman walked putting runners at 1st and 2nd, both would then advance on a wild pitch putting them in scoring position for Riley Koonce. Koonce would come up big for the Fins and he stroked a 2 RBI single to make the score 7-0 OL.

Next up, Killian Strenn would roll over a grounder to third but would reach safely on a throwing error. With runners at 1st and 2nd, Bethelmy would put the ball in play via "swinging bunt" Smile which would load the bases with 1 out for the Fins. Lambert then hit a grounder which would score the run but got the force at 3rd base for the second out via fielders choice. With Morimando up, the pitcher for Green Run would balk, moving both runners over into scoring position, but would show harmless as Morimando flewout to center to end the inning for Ocean Lakes.

At the end of 5 innings:
Ocean Lakes-8 Green Run-0

In the Top of 6 Ocean Lakes saw a pitching change as reliever Pat Ryan took the hill. In his first inning he saw no trouble as he made the Stallions go 1-2-3 for the second time today. The leadoff grounded out to Lambert at SS then Ryan would strike out the next two to get the Fins back to the plate. After 5 and a half innings the score is still OL-8 GR-0.

Casey Bryant led things off for OL in the bottom of 6 with a towering fly ball that the third basemen would lose in the sun helping him safely reach first. Pat Ryan would then flyout to the pitcher leaving the runner at first with 1 out. Austin Frangoules steps to the plate next and goes down swinging, as does Zach Jackman to end the inning for Ocean Lakes. On to the Top of 7...

After 6 innings:
Ocean Lakes-8 Green Run-0
Moving to the top half of the final inning, Ocean Lakes sees another pitching change as Alex Lambert takes the mound for the Fins. In the first AB Lambert gives up a leadoff double to the Stallions. the next Stallion hitter would hit a grounder back to Lambert, taking the fielders choice and capitalized on the base running mistake throwing the runner out trying to advance to third. The next batter for GR would be HBP putting runners at 1st and 2nd with just one out. Lambert would regain some composure and come back to strike out the next batter leaving the runners where they are and 2 down. Alex Lambert then strikes out the next batter for the final out. Great outing for the Dolphins to start the season strong.

Next up for Ocean Lakes will be this Friday, March 18th as the Diamond Fins play host to the Cox Falcons.

FINAL SCORE:
#2 Ocean Lakes-8 Green Run-0

WP: Morimando (1-0)
