My son (06) recently went to watch a college play that he is interested in attending. He has attend their camps for many years and knows the pitching coach from there. This past year the team has changed their head coach and recruiting coach. Both of these coaches talked to my son after the game. Inquired about SAT, ACT, how his arm felt. They also told him they saw him as a good fit with the team. My worry is that the coach that we know and really like only said hello. Should this be a concern? The two new coaches came together from another program. Since my son is a pitcher, shouldn't it be the pitching coach that is telling him that they are interested?

I think coaches do things just to keep the parents confused! Big Grin
I smile each time I read a post like yours. I smile not at you but at myself because a few years back I was in the same situation. I was trying to figure out all the complex human traits and how they fit into the recruiting ride. If a coach said “hi” or “hello” or failed to speak at all, what did that really mean? I was sure they were they sending me a subliminal message, but what was it? What did the small red “X” mean on the camp invitation that he got in the mail. When my son was batting and facing a good pitcher were they looking at him or were they looking at the pitcher? And what did that coach scribble down in his notebook? Was it good or bad? The coaches all left in the third inning, were they satisfied or were they disappointed?
My advice is to control what you can control and ignore what you cannot. If you get your son the best exposure and the best instructions available to him, everything else will take care of itself. After everything falls into place and it’s all finalized you can look back and say....”Nothing to it”!! Big Grin
