A big congratulations to these young men for achieving their dream of playing at the next level!

I'll continue to add on this list as everyone posts other commits.

Seems like a strong year for pitching prospects coming out of VA this year. Could be wrong, but Wahl from West Springfield, Ashooh from Centreville, Crockett from Poquoson, and Fitzgerald from McLean all look to be high impact Freshman in 2011 for some very strong college programs. Those are the only ones Ive seen and there are surely others from around the state. Maybe that is a normal amount of that caliber of pitching during a given year, but it just seems like this 2010 group is really good.

I also wouldnt be too surprised at all if Wahl is a 1st or 2nd round pick this spring and never makes it to Ole Miss.
Jordan Tarsovich (Trinity Episcopal ’10) committed to play baseball at VMI. Jordan played middle infield and hit lead off for the Braves. He was one of two original Braves players (Jordan & Eric) having invested over 6 years with the Braves organization (2003-2004) and playing under both Coach Roberts and Coach Mayers. He was an original member and started at second base for the Braves National 10’s Championship team. Best of luck to Jordan and Go Keydets! Smile Way to go Jay Tar

Dan Gitzen has built a top notch program in a short period of time. Way to go Dan!

Also .....I heard a rumor for 2010 that the Mets are merging with the Red Sox fall team and Allen Haines? Any truth to this? If so, good luck with the new franchise.

The rumor is true. Dan Gitzen has done a great job with the Mets and now they have become the summer program for the Red Sox. Read about the merger and other Red Sox news at www.midatlanticredsox.net
From the Mid Atlantic Red Sox website -

"Thanks to the players and coaches who have participated in the program during the last eleven years, the Mid-Atlantic Red Sox team has established itself as one of the elite showcase teams on the East Coast. The program takes great pride in providing opportunities, and assisting young men in fulfilling their academic and athletic goals of becoming student-athletes on the collegiate level. All 265 former Mid-Atlantic Red Sox players have continued their careers playing collegiate or professional baseball.

To build on the tremendous success of past Mid-Atlantic Red Sox teams, give more opportunity for exposure, and to establish the Red Sox as an elite showcase program on the national level it was clear that the Red Sox needed to add opportunities in the summer as well as in the fall. With this in mind, the Mid-Atlantic Red Sox are excited to announce the merger with the Mid-Atlantic Mets. The Mets summer showcase organization will be adopted by the Red Sox and now go under one name – The Mid-Atlantic Red Sox.

Allen Haines will continue to serve as General Manager and will oversee both summer and fall teams. The fall showcase team will be managed by Eric Haines, while the summer team will be run by Dan Gitzen. Plans are being made to add an underclassmen fall showcase team and teams that will compete in the World Wood Bat Championships in Florida. Be looking for more information as those plans get finalized."

Thank you for your compliments. It is very humbling for persons to recognize your hard work, but it as we all know it's the kids that you have in your organization that really makes it shine. Yes, I am merging with the Red Sox for a number of reasons, but none more prominent then the strong relationship that I have with Allen Haines and his son Eric and their commitment to excellence. We look forward to all of the new opportunities that are coming and thank all of those parents and players that have helped the Mets gain whatever positive feedback given to them over the past 2 1/2 years. Without you it could not be done! Here is the complete list of kids from the summer 2009 Mets program that have verbally committed or signed an NLI to play baseball at the next level. We wish them the best of luck!!
