Very proud to  say my son was selected by the Houston Astros in the 18th round!

He also had a teammate selected in the 22nd round by the Twins

and a former high school teammate selected by the Cards also in the 22nd round

all 3 are D2  players from the PSAC conference , I think the PSAC had 9 players selected today.

Congratulations and Best of luck to all of the players selected!

Its a great day to be a baseball Dad!!!!

Thats awesome, best of luck to your son and his friends.

Thanks everyone, it's been a really fun couple of days!

the support and congratulations my son and his buddies have received have been off the charts.

These are 3 great young men who have busted there butts to make it. It's awesome to see them get a chance at the next level...

all 3 have also received their college degrees, I have been kidding my son who just graduated last week that's it's about time he got a job..

Will Gilbert NC State LHP 8th Rd.  His dad has been on HSBBW for many years.  Will's story is great, he had to earn everything.  Here is a report we did on him back in 2011.  Maybe it will give others some hope.

Will Gilbert is a 2012 LHP/OF with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Morrisville, NC who attends Green Hope HS. Smaller build. Well paced on line delivery, lets his arm work, high 3/4's arm slot, compact quick arm, ball comes out clean and easy, repeats mechanics well. Mid 80's fastball, topped out at 86 mph, will occasionally muscle up and try to overthrow, will come into right handed hitters aggressively. Good feel for change up, will cut change up at times, curveball still needs work and consistency. Loose, very quick arm and some pitchability. Projects in a big way, as he gets bigger he should become an easy 90 mph lefty in college. Very good student.

They did it right. If it doesnt work out, they have a degree to fall back on.

A very late congrats to Joe! Will he be playing in Tacoma? If so, we'll be able to watch him play soon.

I always thought MLB draft is very far away, until one of my son's teammate in High School (a LHP) got drafted last Saturday. He has batted against the LHP in practices, so he's like, 'wow, I batted against a major leaguer and got a single!'

Thanks

Has anyone run across a breakdown of draftees by category of school (HS, DI, DII, DIII, NAIA, JuCo)? I've searched, but can't find anything.

MLB.COM     Then click on draft tracker.. I had to click on tracker again while on that page

Thanks, I couldn't find the Division breakdown from Draft Tracker, but I did find this:

No school: 2
High school: 316
Junior college: 132
College: 766

Some other interesting breakdowns here:
