Greenbrier Christian vs Chincoteague High School has been cancelled. Good news is that Greenbrier will be playing Lawrence Academy from NC tomorrow at 2:00 and 4:30 at Greenbrier.

Indian River at oscar smith cancelled.

Cox over Landstown 15-1. Richie Salter moves to 3-0 with a 4-inning 1 or 2 hit shutout. Brian Sagedy closed out the game. Pitched well, but gave up the lone Landstown run.

GB over WB 2-1 in 9 innings

Yes WB AND GB played well it came down to timely hitting in the top of nine for GB. This game could have gone either way. WB younsters played with the bigboys tonight.

FC looked very sharp against Salem. I saw a few innings of the Cox/Landstown. If Cox is #1 ranked, they did not look too good, but will note, they were smashing Landstown 11-0 when I left. Any other scores to report?

Imagine how well they will do when they "look good"! Just curious "William", what part of the Falcons' game did not look too good today? Was it the 2-hit pitching, the selective eye and timely hits at the plate...or perhaps the defensive gems in the field?

I saw about 6 walks and a hit batter. I guess if you can't get an out a walk will do, say maybe 6. Cox is not good. Face it, you should of lost to Kempsville and got lucky. Yes some teams get lucky, but I would rather be good than lucky. wait until we see you on Tuesday!

i wouldnt call 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th lucky..id call that being a good team and playing well under pressure. yeah, cox didnt have their best game but thats what good teams do..they find a way to win even when they play bad.

I will give props when they are due. Please don't try to tell me that scoring 4 in the bottom of the 7th is just being a good team. There had to be some luck.
What happen last year...under pressure? Same team less talent (with loss of Wilkinson, Valentine and Ittner)? Should we chalk it up to experience? Just be ready to wear blue on Tuesday and it won't be an upset because you are not deserving right now of earning the title of #1 in the area.

and what did they do to fc last year? they beat the 13-1..and fc has the same team, minus the best player ever in justin smith.

they won 12 straight last year after starting 0-7 and made the beach district tournament. something fc cant say they did.

I will give credit where credit is due. Yes you did beat the snot out of us last year, but what happen to the other teams that beat you the first 7 games? Were the other teams lucky or good?

one of the losses was to eventual beach district champ landstown. the other to maury..eastern district champ.

the other games were just played terribly.

Cox on Friday looked good, even though Landstown's pitching and overall performance was not at the top level. The Falcon's were hitting the ball quite solidly when they had the chance and put together a string of hits at times to produce some runs. Landstown's offense with the exception of Mike Curry with 2 hits was non-existant. The pitching for the Eagles I believe produced 11 walks and 1 hit batter so the score might be a little more padded than it should have been. The defense for both teams at most times was solid. The difference in the game was that Cox wanted it more badly than Landstown did and the score indicates that.

wanted it more badly? im sorry but 15-1 is a straight up beating. and 6 walks and only 1 run? landstown must be awful at hitting the ball

Landstown has quite a few players that can produce runs. Against Cox though, the team was just out of sync. But one bad day cant label the overall quality of a team.

Saturday game - Hickory 7, NR 5

I only saw the last couple of innings. Hickory escaped with a victory. The Field Ump REALLY blew call at 1B with the tying run at 3B. To the Hawks' credit, Sr. C Sammy Halloway battled Erickson Keeton and flipped the game winning single to LF.

I heard Erickson hit an absolute BOMB and JUST missed one in the last inning with a runner on 2B.

Overall, a very good game. Hickory will surprise a few teams this year. NR will catch fire soon enough. Their frosh contribute every game. Once the team puts it all together, they will be dangerous.
