Ok so here's the deal from where I see it a few weeks into the compressed college season.

Same teams still dominate.
Pitchers already being used on weekends and in weekday games.
A lot of programs won't even come close to the 32-16 NCAA field due to over used pitching staff.
Northern teams have to still juggle their travel schedules (if not more) and most likely more time away from the classroom.
Everyone is experienceing bad weather.
The better weather teams that host northern teams still get home field advantage.
All players have more on their plate to deal with the 5 days a week games and the classroom.

What has been accomplished?

Your thoughts?

How are your son's handling the compressed schedule?

I definetly agree. Not only that, many teams have had to double up two weekends in a row.

This weekend begins ACC conference series weekend games which ends May 11. Last year it was March 16th, the year before that 3rd week in March (ACC had expanded). I know that Clemson has played 8 games (only 6 at home) and now into the part that really counts in their season this weekend with travel. Tonight is the third (I think) game that has been postponed due to foul weather.

For conferences with 12 teams it's gonna be really difficult.

I think one aspect is easy to summarize:
While the the way the game is played hasn't changed, who and how many are pitching the games sure has.
One anticipated additional change: there have to be more catcher's seeing action than past years, or the one who sees it all is going to be quite tired and possibly unproductive by May.
