My daughters elementary school had a poetry contest last month and we spent this evening listening to the poetry. My daughter recieved 2nd place with this one. A little background, Victory Lane is a set of ballfields that she has gone to many times for her brother.

Victory Lane

Sunflower seeds spit on the ground

Dirt fluttering through the air

Coaches yelling "Back!"

Funny Moms telling stories from their work

Hotdogs, pretzels, and nachos

Salty, brown peanuts

The tart flavors of Sour Skittles

The buttery salt of popcorn

Ice cold metal bleachers

The baseball field

Where I belong

Dang, I am gonna have to do something very nice for this little girl.
Hustle never has a bad day.

Darn it !!!!

people are crying here like on IDOL---is this the new thing--to cry---even before one knows if they are eliminated from competition or not---I am talking male and female---for me crying is reserved for family funerals and sometimes not even there---not knocking those that do--just trying to understand it--when my parents passed we didn't cry--we were happy for them that they were at peace--but perhaps that is just me and my family

Why was Tejada crying yesterday?
Wow, D-man. That is awesome. 2B had an assignment to write an essay for NPR's "This I Believe," and he based it on A-Rod's quote, "Enjoy your sweat, because hard work doesn't guarantee success, but without it, you don't have a chance."

It's still a good quote, but rings kind of hollow these days. Your daughter's poem made me feel great. Please tell her that it ROCKS! And tell her thanks! To quote the Godfather of Soul, I'm off to a ball game, and "I feel good!"
