So no one thinks there is more of an effort starting to go into player development at the college level? Arm programs, more intense strength and conditioning programs, etc..

I don't think that is what we are trying to say. There is definitely more effort going into preparing players but it still comes down to performance. Coaches are given little time to win and/or show improvement from year to year. Most can't afford to keep players on roster who take more then a year to develop.

I haven't found this to be true in the Midwest at mid-majors and even in the Big 10. Many many examples of guys taking a couple years to blossom, at a lot of different schools. But, I won't discredit what you're saying, there are plenty of coaches who run their programs that way I am sure.

Will be interesting to watch the next several years, especially as spin rate data becomes more common place -- pitchers with less velo but crazy spin rates should see more offers in the future as that becomes part of the evaluation. Exciting time in baseball, without a doubt.
