I don't think it hurt Abilene's cause any that Riley Dodge injured himself in the 2nd quarter. Out for the game and the season if it had continued with a second degree separation of the right shoulder.

Carroll went under the center to kill the clock and attempt the game winning field goal. They fumbled the snap and Abilene recovered on their ten with eight seconds on the clock.

That was not a good move. They should've just called a time out and kicked the field goal. What were they going to gain by killing the clock they were going to call time out anyway. Anytime a different QB goes under center thats a possibillity. They are not used to each other.JMHO. Hindsight is 20/20 ain't it. Great run by Southlake.
They could have accomplished the same thing with a shotgun snap -- a tough way to lose. But, they're winners. No one would be saying a word about the coach's decision had they not fumbled. And if the kid misses a field goal from a hashmark, people ask, "why not down the ball in the middle of the field when there was time to do it?" Tough breaks are a part of the game in all sports.

The OU QB goes down one game, they lose and *poof* there goes the national championship. Same for WVU.
Let's be real, most people I know love to hate the Dragon Nation because of there continued dominence in many different sports...not just football.

I love to see them lose. I love it more when a Coppell team beats them.

I don't like the town or the program....well maybe becaue I'm a little jealious of their way of finding a way to win.

All that said, I hate to see a team lose like that, if they had missed the field goal then everything is the way it should be. *********Edited by Moderator********and it did changed things in their direction. So in the end maybe the right team won and they earned it.

I will and have been rooting for Hebron...if you can't beat'em , join'em. Go Hawks!!!!!!!

I don't have any compassion for the Dragon Nation and I am glad they lost. I am however a UNT fan and I hope Todd and Riley Dodge can turn that program aorund.....will they ever have baseball at UNT?

That is a dumb statement.

REPLY - "THE STATEMENT IN QUESTION"

REPLY - Not a "dumb" state just a miss read statement. In the natural coarse of a violent sport like football, the better players on the better team usually are a little stronger, a little faster and hit a lot harder. Playing the way Abilene plays the game it is in the natural coarse of events that a player might be knocked out of the game. In most football games you watch some star from some team or both gets knocked out and the way the game is played changes....see Cowboys - Packers.

Seeing a talented high school player get hurt is not "good football"...

REPLY - See above

it is a shame this young man got hurt in his last high school football game.

REPLY - "I totally agree and I hope he has a speedy and full recovery with as little as pain as possible. I would never want to see a young athlete hurt regardless of what game it is in his carrer....it is kind of dumb to think someone wouldn't think it is a shame."

Having said that --- can we please stick to baseball on this board?

So, how do you feel about the pitcher throwing at batter in high school baseball?

By the way, there are many off topic...topics, if you don't like them then don't read them and definitely don't reply to them.

Meatsdad,

Take this as your only warning. Your statement about the Southlake QB was over the line. Any explanation you could try to bring to it after the fact is just as wrong as the original.

This site isn't about rooting for another player on any team getting hurt.

I'm closing the topic, if you would like to bring it offline, send me a PM.
