I feel like I can brag here and it won't be looked down upon, like it might be in the regular discussions.

Here goes ~ son arrived home early last Friday A.M. from 10 days in Florida playing in an International World Series. They won!!! Actually, were first seed in the tournament from pool play, won the first game on Tuesday and then lost on Wednesday, putting them into the loser's bracket, which meant they had to win all three games on Thursday to take the championship. Which they did!!!

Second thing ~ just received word that he has been selected from the State Dugout Club as a member of the Top 20!!! They will play against Team Canada and Team USA the end of August.
The dugout club ran their own showcase for underclassmen. The tryouts were held around the state at eight different locations. From this group of boys, the Top 80 were selected for a final showcase. (This took place at North Cobb the same week everyone at East Cobb was dealing with the hurricane, which we also had to deal with.) Needless to say, he made the Top 80. Then, the Top 20 were selected from that group of boys. There were about 450 boys in the initial tryouts.

I am just so excited I couldn't contain myself. I wanted to be able to share the news with people who really could understand the pride without thinking I was bragging too much!

Well, this is definitely the place to find those people ... something that non-baseball people just don't get ... as we have probably all experienced at one time or another thru the years

Congrats to your son for what sounds like a very neat accomplishment ... looks like he will have a good time playing against some of the best in the country. What an honor and what fun.
applaude
