I have just spent the last few hours reading messages and have gathered so much valuable information. So I am hoping for some direction from you experts on the possibilities.

My son has been looked at by quite a few good colleges. (Univ San Diego, Stanford, UC-Berkley, etc.etc.) Academically hs is very strong ( GPA 4.34, SAT 1369, top 2% of class)

Because of his academics, he already has a FULL Ride in the state of Arizona. (both U of A and ASU are looking at him too).

Here's my question: Since he already has his tuition paid for... (and i know that baseball scholarships are limited) Is it ever possible for the baseball program be able to come up with the money to cover just Room and Board? Or How does that work?

This may sound ignorant, but we are new to this process and are looking to gather as much information as possible prior to deadlines.

Thanks so much !!

For starters, welcome and feel free to send me a PM to discuss this further.
Athletic money can be awarded at any level, and certainly can be used to pay all or a portion of room/board/books etc
Keep in mind that your in-state tuition waiver currently covers around $4000 of the approximate total cost of $11-12M at ASU or the U of A. Also,it's rare for ASU to give any Room/board to an in-state athlete.
Son's tuition would have been paid for by State of Florida, and if he went to UF, baseball money would have covered room and board.

For those whose sons are eligible to receive money from your states, remember it is granted year by year. So make sure it is understood if something arises, who will pay for tuition.
