..went to the ATM today and hit the Spanish version button by mistake.
...sucker works in Spanish, too!
..dollars not pesos, though.
I have 3 teenagers left in the house that are into "rap" music.
If you think that "rap" music and conversations in school amongst many black students is/are not filled with the "n" word, you don't have any teenagers!
Simple as that.

Real World John. Rap music is 95% consumed by white kids like yours and mine. Look it up. You confuse entertainment and media with society.
That is the absolute flimsiest argument made here in quite awhile. IMO. A little more effort PLEASE?
Here is simple social experiment for you. Walk up to the next 30+ year old black guy you see at the store, and just ask him. It's very simple.
Before you do please write on a piece of paper who to contact in case of emergency, and put it in your pocket.
When you wake up you can tell us what he said.

That might go for the W word too.
Walk up to your local "goomba" - and call him a W.
I dare you. LOL

Didn't Guiliani put them all in jail?? Oh, I made myself laugh.
On behalf of all my relatives - as well as Al Capone, Sam Giancana, The Godfather, Frank Sinatra and Mussolini - I must say I am absolutely stunned by our willingness to allow the W word on this board.
I am offended and - as a result - I am starting a boycott of Ragu Spaghetti sauce and the image of my grandmother on the label.
I am so offended by the neanderthals on this board.

Sounds like you're afraid of your own shadow.
Teens, media and society...interwoven.
Don't think I need you to give me a lesson in history and social mores.

I guess I should listen to 50 Cent to find out what life is all about.
Have a nice day
Beenthere, if you're going to Mexico and plan on using the phones, other than your own cell phone, get a prepaid calling card. It'll save you a couple hundred bucks in phone charges. I got seriously ripped off in Puerto Vallarta in June, $75.00 per call for 5 minutes, or something ridiculous like that. Calling card, .05 per minute.
Also, remember that Rap is *rap. While I'll tolerate most music that my ballplayers want to listen to, NO RAP ALLOWED.

Thanks for the advice. Will be taken.

I have edited my post.
Hopefully some of you understood my point...its just not acceptable to use slurs like those, no matter the intent. A college coach that calls a kid "he likes" the "N" word is outrageous.
Defending him is more outrageous.

He paid the price.
I'm not certain but I heard that he filled that 'Groundskeeper-in-Training' position with the Guymon Rec. Dept. way out in the Panhandle.

If the press says it is racial it is racial. Everything is racial or at least somebody somewhere will put the spin on it. Sports is not immune.
IMO, DeBerry's comments are much more offensive/insensitive to white players than black players.

I agree but that wont sell newspapers

IMO the most racially inflammatory entity in our country is the news media. The news media is no longer the oracle of events as much as an arm of the political left and the entertainment industry. Their racially oriented drumbeat is incessant and it is designed to get ratings and sell their products of magazines, newspapers, etc.
Any time a talking head gets on the TV and starts pointing out what someone inadvertantly said that might offend someone, I turn the channel. I'm sick of it.
It is all designed to keep us all at each others throats and we should all refuse to participate in their ugly game. We are killing the peace and tranquility of our own country, and destroying the chances any of us have of living in harmony.
Coach Deberry should refuse to talk to the news media after what they tried to do to him. All coaches should make it explicitly clear to the sports reporters that none of them will be allowed in the locker rooms or in the coaches offices if their reporting insults him, his players, or the institutions. News organizations would get the message in no time at all.
Coach Deberry didn't mean anything negative by what he said as I know of Afro-American football coach, an ex-Raider player who told me that and I quote him "in modern football you you put our White corn-feds on the O-line and our Black speed on the outside". He meant nothing ominous by what he said, but I understood what he meant, and I totally agreed with him.
We all just need to stop all this nonsense.

I, too, am going to boycott all of the stores that don't sell "kugelis"...a Lithuanian staple.
I'm sick of it...They have "Mexican tortillas...Polish sausage...Italian spaghetti...French pastry..."...on and on...
Where's the Lithuanian stuff?

I read in at least one of these posts somebody using the term "redneck", which is another derogatory term that many consider to be not politically correct. I am not going to look back at the posts, but perhaps some of us need to look in the mirror every once in a while!
