I assumed through video, they saw he was on the phone. The investigation from Alabama got phone records and they matched times but that is total speculation.

Maybe, but did he know where that someone was at time of phone call?
What I meant about the 500k. Many of the SEC coaches make double that amount!
They have guy who placed the bet on video. It only matters who he was talking to.
The irony of having a casino and sportsbook inside Great American Ballpark (Cincinnati Reds stadium)
The jokes write themselves.
@TPM posted:I read this morning that the Alabama HC baseball position is worth 500k.
That's crazy.
There are SEC assistant coaches that would probably have to take a pay cut to take that job
I think ti is a bigger problem that most would think. The online card games and other things start it then players get relaxed about it. I would think every college coach would be talking to their players this week about it. Reminding them what they can and can't do and to stay away from anything iffy. I don't think college players realize what they can and can't do.
NCAA rules prohibit athletes, coaches and staff from betting on amateur, collegiate and professional sports in which the NCAA conducts a championship. For example, athletes cannot bet on NFL games even if state laws would legally allow them to if they weren't competing under NCAA rules.

This is why I've told my kids they can only bet on Paraguayan Armadillo racing.
Now there is news about suspected student athlete gambling at Iowa and Iowa State.

Posted that above.
And now another scandal re: Univ. of Cincinnati:

According to this report, it was a parent of a player who was betting. Yow.
It is going to impact a lot of schools before this is done.
Cincinnati again? It's only 5 months into legalized sports betting in Ohio. The curse of Charlie Hustle.
I hope they just keep the investigation to that guy. As he says in the interview, you can throw a net on any lockerroom and catch players in any sport gambling on college and pro sports. I don't think very few in all of sports gamble on their own teams but they do gamble.
