I will grant you that the 57-69 run of the Celtics was one of the greatest runs of any team, in any sport, period.
Now lets look at the history from 1980 in the modern era. Boston-4 Lakers-8
You better enjoy the one from last year cause it will most likely be the last for many years when you look at the young talented Lakers and with King James
lurking in your back yard. I admit it is great to see this rivalry restarted..... I just hope you make it to the finals this year so we can be dancing on your parquet once again.

Are the ballons still in the rafters at the Forum from when the series came back to LA with the Lakers up 3-2 and lost the last two on their own turf?
What a convenient alteration of history defining when history starts. Who are you to decide when modern history starts? I have two simple questions ...
1) What NBA franchise has the most championships?
2) What NBA franchise currently calls themselves NBA champions?
It's all history. The Lakers are not the answer to either of these questions. If you look at the history of Celtics - Lakers finals, you won't like those results either.
Currently in the NBA two of the best teams are the presiding NBA champion Boston Celtics and the Lakers.
I don't see any happy purple emoticons.
Here's a purple one with a Laker towel

I see the potential for two more titles. When the playoffs come around it's hard for one player (James) to carry a team through the physical beating of playoffs, especially when it's playing against the same strong team through a series. Let's wait until the playoffs to see if the Lakers turn into a bunch of lillies like last year against the Celtics. I couldn't believe the Lakers just rolled over and died like dogs. When Pierce, Garnett and Allen retire, the Celtics won't be down long. They'll have an incredible amount of cap money available.
