Peoria, Illinois native, 1988 graduate of Limestone High School (All State), and graduate of Illinois Central Junior College, James Howard Thome hits a 2 run dinger to break a scoreless tie in the 6th to beat Santana and the Twins.

This 4 time All Star, Silver Slugger Award winner and Roberto Clemente Award recipient is one of the best examples of what’s great about baseball, at all levels. It’s team members like Thome that make the World Champion Chicago White Sox the best team in MLB, not just for his talent and ability but for his character and integrity. He is one of the best examples in MLB. Makes me proud to be a World Champion Chicago White Sox fan and fellow son of Illinois.

Oh, Thome grew up a Cub Fan... This is a guy CHICAGO should embrace!!!! applaude good

Jim Thome is one of my all-time favorite players. He is unbelievably strong and my guess he has always been this way since his high school days. When he first came up to the big leagues, he used to hit many of his hits and homeruns to left field which he still does.

When he turns on a ball, his power can be devastating. He is the only player to ever hit one out of Jacobs Field and that shot was measured at 511 feet. Think about that, most of us consider a 400 footer to be well tagged!

If he surpasses the 500 homerun mark, he should be a hall of famer. Great team player as well. He never wined when the Indians moved him from third base to first. Class act.
