The coaches cannot talk to a player until the showcase/tournament is over--some coaches interpret this to mean after the entire event and other coaches take it to mean after the kid is finished---if they want to talk they will seek you out -- trust me --we go thru this every weekend with our team

That may be a team rule, but a "bump" is permissable whether it be to parents or player. IMO, the player or parent should wait to be approaced by the coach or scout. They are working.
goldenretriever,

You or your son are allowed to talk to scouts at any time. They aren't governed by NCAA rules.

For colleges, D3 has no restrictions except that in person, off campus contact can only be made following the player's junior year in high school.

For D2, the off campus contact must not occur until after June 15 following the junior year. There is also a 2 day dead period associated with each of the NLI signing dates (November 12 and April 8).

D1 waits until July 1. There is a contact period (in person, off campus OK), a quiet period (on campus only), and a dead period (no contact). Some sports, but not baseball, have an evaluation period.

The baseball recruiting calendar is shown in 30.10.7 in the D1 Manual, but at this time, it is currently a contact period, and will be "through the Sunday prior to the initial date for the fall signing of the National Letter of Intent". I think that means through November 9.

There will be a quiet period after the early NLI week until the end of February.
