Stafford defeats North Stafford, 2-1, in a pitching duel. Stafford Daniel King pitches complete game with 10K and 1 ER. North Stafford combined two pitchers, Robert Gallet and forgot 2nd pitcher's name for 2 ER 8K performance. Great game by both teams.

Mountain View beats Albemarle 10-7 still causing a tie for first in Commonwealth between Stafford and Mountain View. Stafford's season is complete with Mountain View playing North Stafford tonight. If Mountain View wins, there will be a one game playoff with Stafford for the District Championship.

Hold your breath!!!
Thanks for the heads up. That is what I came up with also. Finding the tourney bracket has been impossible. Certainly not fan friendly. Just like those Common Games haha.

For what its worth, I will throw out my pre-tourney rankings for Region I

#1 Poquoson
#2 Spotsylvania
#3 Eastern View
#4 Powattan
#5 Grafton
#6 Jamestown
#7 Park View
#8 Chancellor

#2-#6 is a pretty tight group but I think you know who I'm pulling for. Go Knights Smile

Good Luck to ALL the boys playing in the regionals
so looks like round 2 is

Spotsylvania @ Poquoson

Chancellor @ Grafton

From what I've heard or read, Spotsy is tough with Christian and Houston on the mound but Poquoson can really swing it. Poquoson will have a tough time depending on who they pitch. I don't know if I really buy into the home field thing since Poquoson went to Spotsy two years ago and beat Cody Wheeler, it will be a great game.

Grafton is running into a hot team with Chancellor. I don't have anything on them but to knock off Powhatan seems like a pretty big deal to me. Once again, Grafton has their one ace and depending on who they pitch Wednesday they could be in for a rough time.

Stakes are mighty high, should make for some fantastic baseball. 3-up, should I expect to see you at Poquoson come Wednesday?
Chad Pinder and Matt Houston each throw 5-hitters in a classic pitchers duel. Each had only 1 BB as well so there weren't many scoring chances for either team. After some well executed small ball,Poquoson scores the games lone run on a sac fly in the 4th.

One of the best ,if not the best HS game that I have ever seen.

Congratulations to Poquson.
Also #8(riot) nice base hit today.

Thank you. Houston is good. No surprise he was Battlefield POY. He was also a class act after the game.

It was a well played game, right down to the wire. Pinder threw a lot to keep Spotsylvania off balance but when he left a fastball up they executed and hit the ball. And if our LF doesn't make that throw in the first inning it may have been a different game.

Anyways, hats off to the boys from Spotsy, you play the game with class and you play it hard.
