Jacob Morris didn't make the team although he had a couple doubles in the call back game that's odd for a player that talented to me.. what i'm hearing isd if jacob can prove (to scouts) he can hit as good as he looks, he could be a first rounder...

i think jacob is terrific, just my editorial opinion he had a better future as a great DI QB..

but Jacob is at the AFLAC game after a big Perfect Game and Pat Murphy knows what he's doing. with sun deviles. so if you told me in 5 years Jacob's starting CF in the MLB all-star game i wouldn't be surprised..

ESPN:
The Texas Rangers are proud to announce their 2008 Area Code Baseball Roster. These players went through one of two grueling workouts in either Weatherford, Texas or Brenham, Texas to earn a spot on this years roster. Combined there were just under 300 players from Texas and now whittled to 23 players on the final roster.

Last year, the Rangers brought another strong team to Long Beach, led by a pitching staff filled with good arms. This year should be no different, there will be arms aplenty. Three arms to keep an eye on are Keifer Nuncio (Katy), Slade Heathcott (Texas), and Hoby Milner (Paschal). All three pitchers were standouts at the workout in Weatherford, back on June 10. The trio's fastballs range from the high 80s to low 90s, to compliment solid off speed pitches.

Also, look for a strong group of outfielders this year on the Rangers' roster. If you recall from the story on the last tryout in Brenham, nine outfielders were kept to play in the simulated game. Everett Williams, emerged as a name to follow out of the tryout in Brenham. He posted two sub seven 60 yard times (6.60/6.50), which were the best two times of the workout.

After that tryout, Williams said that if he were to make the final roster he looks forward to the high level of competition in Long Beach.
