Thanks to all for the responses. And thanks to all for the knowledge I've gained from reading this site over the years (and the ensuing friendships I've made in turn). I don't think a lot of people that are here realize how much their thoughts and opinions factor into things. I attribute a good portion of my knowledge to this site, and will continue to try to learn more and make myself better into the future in a similar fashion.

Congrats Josh,

Does not surprise me one bit.

I would stock up on a few mental game books. Waltz on over to the mental section there is are a bunch listed there.

One other book I would highly recommend for teaching your players about pitch location, velocity, pitch effectiveness is downright filthy pitching by Perry Husband, great communication tool.

Good Luck! (not that you will need much)
I can't help but think "Man what a guy this Josh is. What an outstanding person he must be for a college coach to even think about doing something like this."

Character. Inegrity. Class. I am just proud of the fact I know Josh. I have never met him but I feel I know him. It tells you all you need to know for his college coach to even consider this muchless do this. I don't know how long Josh is going to play this game. But I would be willing to bet he will be around the game a very long time. And those fortunate enough to be around him over the next several years will count themsleves as being very lucky.
Josh congrats on the new job and best of luck being able to finish your playing career. I'm a little jealous because you're going to be able to coach at a level I would love to. But I have no doubt in my mind that you have truly earned this position. The eloquence you present when you write is just awesome for any age but with this talent you can truly get across your knowledge of the game.

I do want to warn you though. Whatever your majoring in you may want to start thinking of changing it because if you catch that coaching bug you will be hooked LOL.

You're going to do a fine job and look forward to reading about your successes in helping pitchers improve.
quote:
Josh, for complete historical accuracy, this was actually your SECOND coaching offer-we were your first when your arm hadn't healed this summer...so someday our claim to fame might be we made the first coaching job offer, of sorts, to College Baseball HOFFer Josh Herzenberg..

H-1 That is true. Hopefully in the future people won't think I'm some sort of prima dona for turning down a coaching spot in the Valley League... Razz
