I would hope that a device to teach hitting would not violate an absolute.

How many times have you heard
Joe Morgan say" He got fooled but he kept his hands back and lined that ball for a hit". Hitters will get fooled with offspeed. It is common but great hitters make adjustments. The only absolute about hitting is that you better be able to make some adjustments. Nothing wrong with practicing this....young players might learn to do it.

Or, you could set the pitching machine on 68, thigh high, and hit away. Follow hitting absolutes on every swing and see how good the team hits when the real pitcher shows up.
Swing,

IMO - you are correct. I think the Hands Back Hitting device is very worthwhile.

As for "absolutes" - this is the same guy that said a few weeks ago that the "arms, wrists and hands" play virtually no role in the swing.

When you put all the "ozzir" theories together - you wind up with an absolute, all right.

Absolute junk IMO.

Good luck with your students.

Nothing wrong with keeping your hands back.

Nothing wrong with being able to delay for offpseed.

But, either way there is no pause in the load/unload. Which your device requires.

Please explain the difference in your delay for offspeed and a pause in unload

Look...Its a baseball toy that causes a separation between stride and swing long enough to understand how to reduce linear momentum and enhance rotational power. The offset ball popper forces slightly deeper ball contact than kids generally use allowing gap to gap power.

1000's of kids use it and I have never met one that reads N Y M A N .. ....none. Nothing against him its just kids want to play with something.

Georgia, Auburn , Georgia Tech, University of Houston and many more use them too.

OK, so I'm not much into marketing items on this site but I will defend Swingbuster on his device. My kids love it/them. We use them every practice and really found ways to make our practices more effective. We don't have the poppers that throw up the real balls and so, we were able to hit whiffle balls outside our rolling cages while other hitters hit live arm. Well, I could go on and on.

As far as a delay or pause at load, it isn't necessarily true that you have to delay. We tightened the spring some and then had the guys hit the ball on the way up. That was hard. We lossen the spring and had the guys simulate a curve and drive the ball to right. I guess you can say that I'm a fan of the device. Our team didn't fare too poorly using this training tool this year. We had a team batting average of .397. THen again, maybe that was just GREAT COACHING! LOL!!!

Swing,

They can slice it - and dice it.

They can measure it and analyze it.

They can badmouth it and try to take advantage of it.

But the game of baseball - and the kids and young adults who play the game - are just too strong to ever succumb to the Barnum and Baileys and the naysayers of our world.

Baseball will surprise them and beat them back into their holes - every single time.

Wink Swing you have a pm
