My son applied to this school and was accepted and given a rather large scholarship. Does anyone know about their baseball program?

My son did not get the opportunities to be seen in his varsity team or summer league, so we have been playing catch up!
He has gone to several camps and a showcase plus he has emailed and sent out resemes to many different schools. I finally stepped in and had him actually apply to his 5 favorite ones. He does very well in his grades and I felt that he would probably go DIII if at all. One of his "five" has shown interest, but why miss the money if nothing comes through. We have not gotten the "calls" that everyone else has gotten and I don't know if they will ever come.
I know it is a different way of looking at things but my son is going to college either way and I would rather not pay an arm and a leg for it!

Sounds as if you are doing great. If your son gets to play in college, that's wonderful. If not, that's not so bad either.

Ball State is a good program in the MAC, which is a Mid Major Div 1 conference. Greg Beals is going into his 2nd year as the coach. He was previously an assistant at Kent State, which has a great program. They will more than likely have tryouts in the fall which he should attend if he is not already on the team by that time.
I love Ball State. I went to Ball State. It's a great school, Muncie is a nice town. You said he got a nice scholarship, but you didn't say if he had been recruited to play baseball. Keep in mind what he wants to go to school for. As a parent, I look at his playing ball as a way to finance his education - and I think he does, too. We both know he is not going to end up in the major leagues.
I was recruited by Ball State last year and I personally liked Coach Beals and his staff. Although I think they are a young coaching staff I really enjoyed it. They have a nice field and the campus and surrounding town is nice as well. Overall, if your son got a scholarship from them he should be proud. I ultimatly ended up at Indiana State, but remember Ball State has had their share of first round draft picks over the past few year. Bryan Bullington, the Snyder kid and another pitcher (I forget).
