Dont tell him, but my 15 year old could kick my butt if he wanted to. I can still take him in arm wrestling but thats becuase I cheat
I was with Jesse in Milwaukee back in June for a pre-draft workout with my son. He was really a great guy and his son played very well that morning. I'm sorry to read about this.
I know both Jesse and his son. Both are quality people. I hope this is more of an accident than anything else. No excuses, but sometimes things can go a bit too far. I doubt very much that Jeremy wanted to hurt his father.
Was wondering why he has not signed and not playing yet?
Trying to keep things lighthearted...
According to police, the alleged altercation began when the Barfields were getting ready for church on Sunday.
You should see the routine our family goes through on Sunday mornings...fortunately we haven't made the papers yet!

TPM,
We presume the offer wasn't good enough and he decided to go to Junior College for a year (or more). He was drafted in the 9th round by the Mets. The Mets will have him under control for a year.

Here's what I don't understand in this situation: the 9th round is not a typical draft-and-follow spot. I would have thought that the Mets would have known the numbers Barfield wanted to see when they selected him. Teams have adopted the slot money practice, with some notable exceptions. The Mets have a few bucks in the bank too.
