Shortstopmom,
I have a 21, 19 and 8 year old! I have NEVER been one to put out all the "Halloween" decorations, instead preferring a more "Autumn Motif" ...no witches, ghosts, etc. Pumpkins, cornstalks, hay, scarecrows? Yes! Anyway, my 8 year old has been bugging me for a couple of years now "Why don't YOU put out any of that neat "scary" stuff that all the "cool" houses have?!?" So, I finally succumbed to pressure this year and took the little one shopping with me for true HALLOWEEN decorations. This year, we too shall be a "cool" house! Have to admit, the 8 year old picked out a pair of really cool witches shoes that she thought we should put be the front "welcome" matt...which I think is a pretty cool idea myself! Hmmmmm....now where to put the flying ghosts that we purchased?
I have my baseball pumpkin! The dear, sweet man I'm married to, without telling me, was checking WalMarts on his lunch time.....he struck gold yesterday.....brought home one for me, and 2 to send to my son and his roommate....one is a football for the roommie.....I'm going to get a ton of candy and mail it all of to them......
Luvbb.....Your scary home sounds wonderful....and for those of you worrying that two baseball pumkins may be too much....well.....you should see my Christmas tree....it is completely baseball ornaments....with no duplications....even the garland is baseballs....started it when son was eight.....think the ornaments I most enjoy are his Little League pins.....you know the ones you get with their picture....or do they still do that? Anyway I cut out red felt an inch wider then the photo button....hot glued it to the backs along with a loop of red cord for hanging....I just love them!
To make a long story short....one can never have too many baseball decorations......

Gaile...me too! Except my garland is popcorn! Where did you ever find baseball garland? I would KILL for that! Now THAT is the Christmas spirit!
Baseball garland....okay......don't think me crazy, but.....went to my local crafts store and purchased thin shiny red metalic roping....then purchased the round wooden balls with center holes precut, they come several to a package in the craft stores.....white and red paint, thin brush for the ball seams, glue....and you get the picture.....
After reading this....yes, I am crazy....but my son sure does love his Christmas tree.....

WOW Gaile....are you sure your name isn't MARTHA ?????? I don't think you are crazy, I think you are creative and patient! I'm impressed.
Gail, I don't think you're crazy!!! I think that's a marvelous idea!!! I actually have an extra Christmas tree this year to decorate thanks to Luvbb. She turned me on last year to doing a Christmas tree just for my daughter in pink and green (my fav color combo) and it took a while for me to find the white tree that I wanted. Sooooo, I had already bought a green one..... I'm thinking a baseball theme would be super. However, that would leave my primary tree bare as many of my decorations are tied to baseball. Perhaps I'll just add your garland!!! Great idea!!!! Would be a fun craft project for younger kids too!!
....and can I borrow the idea of the white tree with pink and green (my favorite colors too) decorations? I would dearly love that.....
....think we should be calling Luvbb....Martha!
Probably shouldn't be getting to carried away though.....our completion date on the new house is 12/20...then to get everything delivered......trying not to think of it too much right now.....but our Christmas could be in the back of the moving truck.....

LadyNMom - Not only was it done in pink and green, but primarily in purses and shoes! A very girly tree.... although not exactly in line with any religious connection of Christmas, it was lots of fun. I gave it to Kelsey for her birthday which is in early Dec. Found some hot pink pic frames too of different shapes, so she can add pics this year. Also found pink lights which look great on a white tree! As a matter of fact, bought most of the decorations at Target!
Sounds wonderful.....I definitely will try it...and I so love Target.....and....Kelsey is a lucky young lady....

I don't know Lafmom...."purses and shoes" are pretty much a religion for my daughter!
Hi gals,..I had to jump in here! Helloooo,...where have I been? My Target had the pink lights last year,..and we have the sparkly foil tree ( from Target a few years back,..folds up into a tube! ),..but where do I get the purse and shoe ornaments??? My daughter would FREAK OUT over that!!!! Lafmom,,...sounds like our daughters have alot in common,..December birthdays and both play volleyball. Very cool!
We call my daughters tree her, " birthday tree! " ( this frees our conciousness from the the lack-of-religious-tone guilt! ha!)
We put an old hot pink sparkly ballet tu-tu around the base of the tree as a foofie tree skirt!
Ladymom,..if ya sold your bb garland at a craft fair,..I bet it would sell out!...from me alone! ha!!!!
Such great ideas!!! Luvbb,....glad you have a
" cool " house now. Those witches shoes sound stinkin' cute!!!!
I'm off to see the wizard,..and finish my homecoming football team dinners ( pasta for 60,..eeek!).
Tell me if anyone finds purse and shoe ornaments,..we just gotta get those!!! In girlie colors,..pink, purple, lime green, yellow, etc!
Thanks all!!!

SSMOM - Target actually had a huge selection of ornaments in hot pink, lime green, and purple. I even bought my daughter a hot pink star there for the top of the tree. Her pink lights I actually bought at a store here that specializes in Christmas decorations. I haven't stuck entirely to the purse and shoe theme as Luvbb did, but added a few other things including hot pink and lime green glass balls I bought at a store here. The pink and green really pop on the white tree! I probably invested more money in that tree than I have in our family tree. It will be a fun thing though that she can take with her to her own home one day..... hopefully she'll have an understanding husband that will enjoy a green and pink Christmas tree.... at least somewhere in their home!
My daughter's room is done in bright colors including the walls are painted a bright yellow. So the tree actually matches her decor! Looks really cute!

SSmom...you'd be surprised how many shoe and purse ornaments you can find out there. Once you keep your eyes open for them.....they just seem to appear.
"Build the tree....and the ornaments will come"!
Lafmom is right tho...last season at Target, they had LOTS of shocking pink and lime green "stuff"!

Thanks gals!! I will keep my eyes peeled when Tarjeeee gets their Xmas in. Right now, here they are filled with only spooks and goblins.
( But I do see trickles of Xmas coming in! )
Perhaps if I look hard enough I will find
purse-toting goblins, wearing fabulous shoes for my Halloween tree???? ( giggle )
( it could happen! )
