Just get yourself a razorblade and a baseball. Use the razor to cut the ball as close to the seams as you can without cutting them. Peel the seams off the ball and cut 'em to the desired length. Cut the ends so some of the strings from the seam are exposed enough to tie together. It means ruining a perfectly good baseball, but is extremely easy to make on your own.

I'd say don't spend the money on one, but I can't talk, the one I'm wearing now my sister bought from the Tim McGraw website where they're selling them in memory of Tug and using part of the proceeds for brain cancer research. but for how quickly I've seen them wear out it's not worth the money to buy them.
