Teams were jawing back and forth as the game went on. Batter tells his teammates that if he hits a homer, he is going to flip his bat into the other team's dugout.
Curve is hung and he jumps on it - moon shot. Goes into a slow trot watching the ball and half-way to first flips his bat way up in the air toward the opposing dugout. Bat actually hits the dugout fence and narrowly misses going in the dugout. By this time, the batter has his head down as he rounds first.
But the ball hits the top of the fence. He notices just in time and has to slide to avoid being thrown out at 2nd. Both sides are dying laughing since he pimped it and was nearly out.
Next batter steps in and is laughing and has to step out. On deck starts motioning to the guy about to hit telling him he has to go get the bat. Batter has to call time and go and retrieve the bat which is laying on the dugout fence.
It all worked out and was pretty funny. If the ball had actually gone over the fence and the bat had actually made into the dugout (couple of inches on both) then it might not have been so funny.
