Kids using metal bats can hit the ball off the handle and often get it to drop in. With wood, that would be a squibber or a broken bat. As a result, with BBCOR,  there is less self-reinforcing discipline to keep the hands in to get the barrel on the inside pitch. That is one reason many players in BBCOR leagues use wood to train with in the offseason.
