I went to the Field of Dreams in one of Atlanta's many malls and saw one of those Pete Rose "im sorry I bet on baseball" autographs.

This got me wondering....If they let Bonds, Big Mac, Sosa and Giambi in the hall of fame...shouldnt they let rose in? I know there has been no failed tests or confessions (besides Giambi) but the evidence is there.

Pete Rose bet on baseball, which he souldnt have done....but he never cheated the game of baseball. What he did was wrong, and unethical...but as far as Pete Rose the player, he never ever cheated the game of baseball

So what would you do?

Do you think the MLB has to much money to make off of bonds next year that they are backing off?

Pete Rose did cheat the game of baseball. It was specifically stated after 1919 that gambling on baseball would result in a lifetime ban. Pete Rose knew this, and he shouldn't be let off the hook just because baseball faces a new, modern integrity issue.

Gambling as done with the 1919 White Sox had to be dealt with, at that time it threatened the game. Joe Jackson and others in differing degrees were the scapegoats. Owners knew this was going on all along and I'd BET they were participants. Since then the whole thing was just part of baseball lore, something that was actually romanticized over the years. It only served to make baseball overly harsh on gambling. Punished, yes...banned no way.

Other players show more disrespect by far....performance enhancing drugs, plain old illegal drugs and other embarrassing behavior that goes with either a slap on the wrist or nothing. Bud Selig and the current band of owners as a whole have been horrible stewards of the game and are worse than the players.
