Two programs that should never be compared. Sparks are class acts

Cougars and top Tier - well ask around and see what people think of them

lol

i know the sparks are class acts, but what do upper deck and top tier do??

catcher2, we've been here many times. If you wish to know, perhaps a pm would be more appropriate unless your intent is to open this can of worms again. I'm hoping that it is not and you have innocently wandered into posting this topic. Otherwise?
I think it was "TheGreatTruth" (which sounds like an oxymoron) who is trying to start the fight.

Seems like an innocent thread to begin with.

Illinois Sparks
Upper Deck Cougars
Norwood Blues
Top Tier

All seemingly good programs that get a lot of pub.

What about Schaumburg Seminoles?

Give us some others. If you don't like them, keep it to yourself.
For the juniors that will be seniors next year the one thing that really matters is are you on a team that coaches and scouts want to come see? Winning games almost becomes secondary, keep score by home many guys are standing behind the screen with radar guns and clip boards. The son my team was on was probably a few games over 500 last summer. Most games we pitched 3-4 pitchers and moved guys around to showcase everyone as much as possible. I can think of only a few games we played where there wasn't a college coach or pro scout watching. Trophys are great but save those for the little guys. The real trophy is a college scholarship.

Right on. No matter how many tournaments you may win over the course of a summer, it is more important to provide the necessary exposure for players to get to the next level and continue their careers. I do feel as though most summer teams have a good grip on this and do things the right way.
Playball2- I never said what team my son was on. Over the course of the summer there were many other teams I saw that did the same thing, showcase pitchers, play players at different positions etc. to help them get to the next level what ever that level may be. I'm not sure what your problem really is with my post, I was just trying to pass on our experience. And I'm not sure what pophetic is...

Playball - You seem to have a real dislike for travel, or club, baseball and are apparently somewhat threatened by it which is understandable. You see, unlike a good number of high school coaches, I am determined to promote each and every one of my players through the concept of team so that they can achieve their ultimate goal of playing at the collegiate level...can you say the same?

Moreover, your sarcastic attack on il2008's post was, in my opinion, uncalled for as he was simply stating the benefit of properly coached, club-travel baseball at the high school level. I say this without any affiliation with him whatsoever.
Bravescoach, my post was not sarcastic in any way. If you read again you will see that it is very matter of fact. Secondly if that is your idea of an appropriate way to coach, then say nothing about how you promote a team concept, this the furthest idea from a team concept read the post again. As far as being threatened, you could not be further from the truth, I am very aware of how the system works.
I would say the team we are involved with does have a we before I approach. Kids were willing to play other positions so that everyone could get seen. We batted as many players as possible. Pitchers were willing to give up innings so that others could pitch in front of the right people. The coaches were always in contact with college coaches and scouts and had no problem making a call on a kids behalf. The winter workouts stressed fundamentals. Best of all each kid was genuinely happy for their teammates as they made college decisions. I think my son made some lifelong friends from this team.

Playball2 - You did not amswer the question that was put to you.

And could you please explain which system you are referring to.
CSG, if the question is about players leaving my program to achieve their ultimate goal, the answer is yes. The system I referred to is the travel ball system. I am not sure people understand the effort it takes a high school coach to pull kids back into their system. I am all in favor of kids playing at a higher level, if their talent dictates that.
