It might reduce crime, but that is probably by increasing the suicide rate from listening to those tunes.
I never did this...but we had a 250lb lefty senior pitcher (who was very good) who was the guy who kept everyone loose. Funny, funny kid. Anyway...I was listening to stuff on the computer and I saw on one of our lists, "Big Papa" by Biggie Smalls...I cranked it up and it was perfect. I wanted to play that everytime the kid waddled to the mound....no guts though, no glory! Kid went 7-1 and took us to state! Now I can't get the dang song out of my head.

These songs are picked by the players: Auburn's team song, the song played as they take the field, is AC/DC's "Hell's Bells". My son's coming out song, since his last name is Bell, is "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by Metalica. We also have a reliever on the team by the name of John Madden... John's song, as he takes the mound, is the theme from "ESPN Sportcenter".

when i come out to pitch i have Hell's Bells playing by AC/DC,and when i bat i have 2x4 by metallica. Both get me pumped.
Both Metallica and AC/DC would get thumbs up in our home.
My lefty is partial to the drum intro and guitar in Marilyn Manson's "Beautiful People" if he's up to bat. It worked last year as he led in rbis.
And of course, AC/DC, "For those about to Rock" for warm up on the bump.

If you know someone with a laptop you can hook it up to your PA. We use a program developed by the Portland Trailblazers called "Game Ops Commander" It is really great and you can do a lot of cool things.
Be sure and check lyrics it can be very embarrassing to hear #*%@ over the PA. You need to make your clips no shorter than 45 seconds. That way if there is a timeout you can let it play...

bbmom- when i was posting earlier i said our high school used a program. this is what we use, "game ops commander" is a great program and makes playing music at sporting events a peice of cake...its a great thing....
I use a program called Sports Sounds Pro. Very easy to use and not very expensive.

I remember the my sons HS team had some great infield warmup music, much of it was 70's rock. But, I thought the best to get the mood going was "White Wedding" by Billy Idol.

A. Stop the music when the game resumes. Do not make the Umpire signal to cut the music.
B. As a player do not delay the game while waiting for "your music" to be played. Get out there and be ready to play.
C. Do not use music to embarrass your opposition. NFHS rules forbid it....... remember all it takes to have it stopped is one complaint from the visiting coach.
and finally be aware of irony............Nothing sillier than a pitcher coming in to "wild thing" and promptly walking in the winning run.... or a #9 hitter coming out to "Bad to the bone".....and getting k'd in 3 pitches.............

A bit off topic, but years ago at a Brewers game (I think), there was a streaker on the field - without missing a beat, the organist started playing 'Is That All There Is'. I always thought that was pretty funny.

I like Stone Cold Steve Austion's theme. The glassbreaker. And for a pregame song, "its a long way to the top" is good against a rival.
Joe Satriani's Mind Storm. Take about the first 30 or so seconds of it and add the drum at the end of the song. Nice thing about this cut - just about no one has ever heard it - nice to be different!! Joe has played with just about everyone - Santanna, Metallica, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc.

After this weekend (we went to Kansas), I'm having serious doubts about the music thing. I've never heard so much LOUD, obnoxious music in my life. My head hurt, couldn't hear any dialogue on the field, and quite frankly didn't approve of some of the music selections. Example: lyrics like: "I'm a loser, why don't you just kill me"
I like the natural sounds of a baseball game, the players voices, the "ping" of the bat, the encouraging words, the sound of digging in at the plate, and of course you can't hear the umpire/coach "discussions" when the music is blasting!
If I want loud music, I'll go to a club after the game.
