I thought I would open a thread on books about statistics and scorekeeping for those who are interesting reading about this topic.

Two books I wanted to review:

The Numbers Game by Alan Schwarz

This book presents a history of the statistics that have gone hand in hand with baseball for more than 100 years. An interesting read, very well written and, for those who are into the numbers of baseball, a must read.

Baseball Between the Numbers by the Baseball Prospectus team of Experts.

This is book attempts to explain "Why everything you know about the game is wrong". While that quote is a bit of a stretch, it is a book that challenges the assumptions of baseball using statistics to support their arguments. WARNING - This book is a very dense and tough read - and since it was written by a collection of people, varies in style from one chapter to the next. While interesting, I would read a chapter or two at the library before buying a copy....
