Bottom feeder D1 versus ranked D3

Yes sir.  Actually a dominant pitcher.  Here's the issue...   he's 5'11" - maybe.  

I've been to 20 or so of my son's games so far this year....I think I've only seen 3 guys over 90...and one of them is on our team.  Hard to believe, that even at 5'11 that someone hasn't offered him.  My son was 88-89 when he committed the summer after his junior year.  He was 5'9 or 5'10 and maybe 150 lbs at the time. 

There's a good chance the schools that have seen him think there's no way he'll end up at their level. And the schools at his level haven't seen him yet. 

I was talking to a coach at a summer game and asked what he thought of our pitcher. He said he looks great, but he's too good for them. I thought the same. The kid was throwing 91, but never got in front of the right schools and when he did they already had their classes set. He's going to a D3 for the academics, I'm sure he'll have no problem walking on there.

This is a MEAC conference game, and those are two of the teams I referred to earlier. It's a rough clip, and I don't think it's representative of the conference in general. However, like I said earlier, MEAC teams would not be out of place in many D3 conferences.

Those were my thoughts as well. Just using it to prove that not every D1 has guys throwing 90+ and slick fielders. I know it is only one clip and I don't know the situation, but the lack of athleticism did surprise me.

Without digging at the guys too hard, if you showed me this clip and told me it was a HS team, I wouldn't think twice bout it. But I've also seen the Marlins play like this in July so everybody has their day.

UCONN probably over-rated a bit at #22

It’s tiresome when people in TX, FL and CA call every team not from their conference overrated. UConn is off to a good start. They’ve beaten some good teams. Starting off the season beating Louisville two of three draws positive attention. They’re 3-2 against ranked teams.

Last year they were 37-22. They beat ranked #13 Coastal to get to their regional final against Washington. They were one game from a Super Series.

Fairfield is in third place in their low rated conference. They probably caught UConn over confident and going through the motions. Fairfield jumped to a quick 7-2 lead. It puts pressure on the team that shouldn’t lose. I’ll bet UConn feels so humiliated they beat Fairfield by ten runs next year to make a point.

What I said was that they were probably a bit over-rated at #22 and I stand by that. I’m pretty sure there are 25 teams that are better than UCONN. Just my opinion. 

BC just knocked FSU out of the top 25 after taking 2/3 and also has wins over Louisville and Clemson.  BC and UCONN are the only power conference teams in NE, and when given a chance they more than hold there own. It’s more a matter of quantity, not quality, IMO.

While that may be true in general, but at least in D3, the Wisconsin schools consistently field top 25 teams - year in and year out. UWW a few years ago was one of the most physically impressive teams I saw in 4 years of watching championship D3 ball. It's just baseball if you try to make a "generalization" as it will prove you wrong....which is the beauty of the game.

No one is arguing the ball is better than in other areas. But the condescension and dismissiveness is f’ing obnoxious.

A lot of northeast players head for the ACC. George Springer must suck. He grew up in CT and played for UConn along with Red Sox closer Matt Barnes. The year Vanderbilt won the CWS their #1, #2, closer and cleanup hitter were all from Massachusetts.

The experts say UConn is in the top 25. Your view is just a two bit opinion.

BC and UConn will always lose the better northeast players to the ACC. They will always lose the best to Vanderbilt. Corbin is from NH. He has a lot of eyes in the northeast.

I’m tired of the condescension and dismissiveness some people on this board have for quality ball players from other areas of the country.

There’s sometimes an attitude on this board if from TX, CA and FL your kid’s farts don’t smell. If you’re from certain areas of the country your kid is overrated and just not that good.
