With Schilling signing for a low base and incentives and wanting to finish his career in a Bosox uniform are we beginning to see a new mental outlook on the part of the players?

looks like Lowell will also be returning to the BoSox

I'm feelin' a little cynical today.

Are you referring to some semblance of loyalty...

(Yeah, he did come back to the team that drafted him 18 years later.)

Or are you referring to the change in thinking that the owner doesn't have to spend so much?

I'm not sure this is trend setting. And if it were what would be the benefits? The Ripkens and Pucketts who play for only one organization are very rare indeed. It's a little late for Curt to wanna be like Cal or Kirby.

Sorry for the 'tude.

Schilling just wanted to come home.Smile He started in the Red Sox organization. He was traded aoong with another prospect (Brady Anderson) for Mike Boddicker.

While Schilling is a self promoter the only situations he had control over were Philadelphia and Arizona. He asked out of Philadelphia for lack of commitment to winning. Arizona wanted to lower it's payroll. He volunteered to leave.

Schilling is big on baseball history. He named one of his kids Gehrig. I believe he appreciates being part of the Red Sox - Yankees rivalry.
