'Clapping baserunners'

That annoys the heavens out of me, I give them a warning (our my team) and if they dont listen umm we will throw over about 3-4 times and start doing our own little ra-ra stuff.

Most of them want to get under your skin and get them to give you a look. If your throwing over there 3-4 times, the runner now has a chance to advance.

I have the solution to that

When you throw over "miss" the 1st baseman,if you know what I mean

I understand how it's annoying, but why is it that bad? As long as he doesn't yell stuff, he's ok. But what type of clappin is it?

the good ol slap tag always works on them or just a little chin music next time they're up

Bottom line-- he did what he wanted to do--he got to you

rH just a simple pick play with pitcher taking a step off and lobbing the ball over. Hopefully we dont mess that up.

I recall a game last year where a baserunner was being an issue and clapping defiantly.His next at bat I was talking to him during his AB,low and behold he struck out.He was silent most there after

I had the same thing happen to me in my last game when i was one the mound and over the years i have noticed one thing. It is never the good players who clap. but as for that game it sucked becuase i onley had three or four baserunners the whole game and this kid got on TWICE

What i would suggest if thats a problem is just tell your firstbaseman to talk with the runner.. You know about girls, sleep,food, anything but baseball. That takes his mind off the game and believe u me it gets the basecoach off the game as well. And then just pick him off. Trust me it works i use the psychological mind games a ton.

just ignore the clapping....
its so little league/ 9 yr old girls softball...
If they see that nothing happens when they do it....they stop after awhile....

He's only embarrasing himself, and doing it out of desperation.

I was playing 3b yesterday and they had a real clapper at 3b.So while our catcher for the day runs out to talk to the pitcher,I tell the baserunner "Thats some little league stuff,welcome to high school" he tells me I dont think so buddy

Bases are loaded with 1 out,they hit a dribbler at me and he goes home because he had to,I bare hand and get him at the plate,while walking back to the dugout he shot me a nasty look but I acted as if I didnt see it.His clapping was a little bit toned out after that.

Beautiful, I like how you shut him up. Why was HE giving you a nasty look? What does he have to be snotty about? If he is going to do **** like that than at least he had better be a smart enough ball player and except the fact that you made a nice play to get him out. You know what I mean?

I dont know.Im pretty quiet so I go about my business that way.If someone tries to start something and I can get them to stop I will usually not look their way again.

What I meant was, the runner was doing little league stuff and clapping like that and then when he the opportunity to score you threw him out. Even though it was a force out, apparently that shut him up, I liked it because you didn't have to say anything to him, you let your glove do the talking.

I hate bush league teams. When I'm pitching i throw over there a couple of times and make him too tierd to clap. Sometimes our 1st basemen will give you a warning to stop but the next time he will wack you upside your head if you keep doing it. Or if you start talking you just get beaned.

i had a clapping baserunner this past year our first baseman told him to stop or he was going to get earholed by me next time. he didnt stop and i hit him. then we he got to first i threw one into his ribs on a "pickoff" attempt. then i threw a pitch and threw back over there and our first baseman tagged him pretty hard. we didnt have a problem with him clapping or anyone else on the team clapping the rest of the game. clapping is what you do in little league and obviously some dont grow up its bush league and doesnt need to be done in high school.

excessive ........ no. Thats good, they gave him a warning and wouldn't listen so they had to use force. Nothin wrong with that.
