Tough loss for Hollis Brookline today against St Thomas. Good start to the game 0-0 after 2 but St Thomas brought out the lumber in the 3rd and put 7 on the board all with 2 outs. They had two home runs in that 3rd inning and showed a lot of power throughout their lineup with deep balls. The St Thomas starter (Hayes) and reliever (Bean) had very good velocity with lots of movement. Both had nasty curve balls.

HB Justin Page had a great game defensively including a diving catch coming in on a line drive and an over the shoulder catch where he ended up toppling over the fence. The Cavs had 6 hits on the day 3 by Kenny Glover and one each Justin Page, Charley McCubrey, and Maycn Clifford.

Will be interesting to see if the Cavs hold onto the 8th spot and get a home playoff game.

Anybody go to the Milford / Souhegan game?

Yes, Schagrin did a solid job in a complete game win. Milford seemed understandably uninspired as they have but one win on the season. 6-1 SHS victory and it was never in question. I do think that Milford has given a lot of playing time to some underclassmen, especially on the hill and at catcher, so hopefully they learn from the early Varsity experience and can help the program moving forward.
Some great local games out of the gate with HB facing Kennett (long ride down from up north). Bedford vs Bishop Brady and Souhegan vs Merrimack Valley. Nice to see 3 local teams have strong seasons and get a home game as a reward

From what I read Kennett has a couple of solid pitchers in Mike Larson & Jeff Sires but those were preseason write ups. Anyone know much about the Kennett team from this past season?

I see that Bishop Brady has one big gun with Tyler Penney. I suspect Bedford will see him on Thursday. Should be a great game. Will Bedford pitch Olen or Maher???? Sounds like BB isn't a powerhouse at teh plate and relies on manufacturing runs....

Souhegan is always solid. Anybody know much about Merrimack Valley.
HB wins 10-1. Charley McCubrey went 6 and got the win. Assuming Portsmouth wins their opener (postponed till Friday) HB will (I assume) throw Justin Dapalito. If he pitches the game of his HS career you never know. Long bus ride home back to N Conway for Kennett.

For Bedford.....didn't Maher shut STA down when they played in the regular season. STA can't be liking the chances of seeing him again.

What the heck happened to Souhegan. Major upset wit that one......
Lucas Olen threw a no hitter in the Bedford win today. He was very strong, striking out 7 of the 17 Brady batters he faced. Penney was throwing hard for Brady (the Southern Maine coach had him at 86 on the gun), but 1 thru 9 the Bedford hitters hit the ball hard. The Brady defense struggled with several sharply hit balls and they threw it around a bit as well. Bedford had 7 hits and only 3 K's against the Brady ace.
Class I final should be fantastic. Portsmouth is an incredible team and looks to have no flaws....yet Bedford has outstanding talent. They can hit and they can pitch and they play good defense. The easy pick would be Portsmouth...never bet against the champ.....BUT I like the underdog in this matchup, it just feels like its time for some new blood ......plus I know a bunch of the Bedford players :-)

Good luck to both teams.
