Wow, sloppy game between Campbell and Somersworth. Campbell committed 3 errors in the first to go down 4-0 after one inning. Somersworth committed 5 errors in the second inning, to go down 4-7 after two. Somersworth chipped away at the lead to go down two 8-6 in the bottom of the 6th an put up a two spot to knot it up at 8-8. Parma came on in the 6th and shut Campbell down for the most part. Junior Josh Young lead of the bottom of the 8th with a walk-off digger to win it for Somersworth. Horning lead the offense going 2 for 4 with 3 rbi for Somersworth. Battle of the unbeatens Wednesday 5/5/10 at the Pines in Somersworth. Somersworth vs Hopkinton. Should be worth watching.

any reports from Hopkinton v Somersworth?

Mike, Hopkinton showed their youth and made alot of errors, I'm sure they are a much better than they showed tonight. Ugly game, Somersworth bats were the dominateting factor, but got allot of help from the Hopkinton defense. Down 9-1 in the top of the fifth Hopkinton mounted a comback to make it 9-5, but Somerswoth answered with back to back home runs,by Brody Horning and Josh Young to make it 14-5 after 5 innings. Hopkinton gave up up a grand slam to Somersworth's Justin Beckey in the bottom of the 6th to end the game in the bottom of the 6th. Bonifant started for Hopkinton, Dj Colbert for Somersworth.

Here you go Coach Curt. Somersworth (I love your hitting), Winnisquam (to bad Cote can't pitch each game), Campbell (I think they just may win out from here - they will have their sights on the Somersworth rematch and that will be a GREAT game to watch) and you guess number four.

I agree with everything but Campbell winning out, they might lose one... I hope. I'm the hitting coach for somersworth, so thanks for the comment about their hitting. Good luck with your remainning schedule.

Take Care, Coach Curt

How could you leave out your green team (Hopkinton), Trust me they will finish in the top four, win the first two rounds at home. Just like the rest of us, who knows what will happen from there.

Good Luck, Coach Curt
The Hopkinton Hawks added two in the win column this weekend to improve to 11-2 on the season. Bonifant and McManus pick up their fifth wins of the season. Bonifant threw a one hitter against Raymond and allowed one walk. He atoned for those base runners with a pair of pick-offs. McManus got the win on Saturday against Hillsboro. At the plate, McManus was 5-5 for the weekend. Infielder, Nate Greabe broke out of a hitting slump in a big way going 4-5 at the plate scoring 2 runs and collecting 5 rbi's in the 13-3 win over Hillsboro.
Winnisquam ended last week with a 6-1 win over Interlakes, improving to 13-2 on the season. Interlakes now drops to 9-5. Jordan Cote, who is 7-0 on the season, had 14 K's. Winnisquam's 4-5-6 hitters went a combined 6-10 with 5 RBI's. Kyle Pratt went 2-3 (triple, double), Matt Roy with 3 hits and Justin Dorr with a pair of RBI's. Winnisquam plays at Franklin tonight and finishes the regular season at home against Mascoma on Wednesday.
Congrats on a nice seaason to all the teams in Class M. IMHO, there are at least six different teams that could end up with a State Championship. Good luck to everyone, hope to see you at one of the games. I have to give props to the Sanborn coach, this is the most improved team in Class M of all the teams I've seen. They can hit, better hope you don't face them early. If you give them extra outs it could get ugly.
My top pick for the best player in Class M is a tie between Winnisquam’s Jordan Cote and Somersworth’s David Parma. We may or may not get to see the tie broken during the state championship. I know the Hopkinton sophomores Bonifant and McManis should be on there. Somersworth shortstop Ryan Theriault and Brody Horning is the best catcher in Class M.also add DJ Colbert and sophomore Josh Jaques to the list from Somersworth. Farmington pitcher Jared Naison is a first teamer, I think their catcher Vachon is a second teamer. Campbell P/SS Cullin Baker in a shoe in. Thats all I can think off right off the top of my ahead. I know there are allot of other great players out there.
Agreed with Cullen Baker. Theriault should be a shoe in for 1st team he is great in the field not sure about at the plate but he is very fast on the bases. Horning is a wall and has a great arm. Winnisquam's Kyle Pratt and Berlins Curtis Arsenault should be added to this list. It would be a great pitching duel if Parma and Cote squared off in the finals.

I too like Pratt and Arsenault, Mascenic's ace pitcher is very good also, anyone know his name?
By my count, Jordon Cote has gone 6 2/3 in the first two games. That leaves him with enough to put out any fires against Hopkinton (say 2 or 3 innings) and still have enough for the start in the finals (presumably against Somersworth.)

But, let’s not leave Hopkinton out of the mix. In last year’s quarter final, then Freshman Bonifant (who is scheduled to start in Wednesday’s semi-final) had playoff jitters and a rocky first inning start against Winnisquam. With the first inning behind him, he settled in and tamed the Bears before running out of gas in the sixth, having thrown just too many pitches in that unfortunate first.

Hopkinton’s bats came to life with just two games left in the regular season and have continued to sing in the playoffs (15 hits against Prospect Mountain and 13 hits against Franklin), and this with slugger Sam McManus (.653) on the bench nursing a pulled hamstring.

I am looking forward to a very well-played game from two very well-coached teams. Both teams are playoff veterans so hopefully the jitters will be gone. Caruso and Chase are two fine coaches with a deep appreciation and knowledge of the game. Neither of these two will miss an opportunity in a game like this one. The only regret in a match up like this is that it is single elimination. Imagine what fun if this was a best of 3 or even 5!

I also plan on staying for the nightcap. Should be a great afternoon and evening of baseball in Concord Wednesday!
