UIC big win today 18-3....Freshman pitcher Ryan Zink, in his first collegiate start, scattered seven hits over seven innings and struck out 13 batters. Zink has appeared in four games this season and has a record of 2-0 with two saves.

Saw that Sean Walker, Carmel and Michigan State, had a 2 home run game yesterday versus Butler down in Florida.

My oldest son, Steve Murchek, got his first college hit a couple weeks ago, an opposite field homerun. Not bad for a pitcher.

Walker is a man amongst boys. Anyone know why he did not get drafted out of Carmel??

baseball. he is hitting 9/22, 2 HR's, 2 2B's and 5 RBI. looks like most as a DH, I think he got in a game or two behind the plate.

Dartmouth Baseball Drops Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 4-1
Freshman Bobby Steinsdorfer gave up one run in six innings of work and picked up his first collegiate victory in Dartmouth's 4-1 win against Wisconsin-Milwaukee Sunday in Bradenton. Steinsdorfer surrendered just three hits and three walks while striking out four in his outing, which was his first career start.

Work hard and you will be rewarded!

Those players are Kyle O'Brien,starting at 1st base and Bolt (not sure of 1st name) who starts in right. Bolt has impressed the scouts in Florida while Kyle has struggled a bit while playing well defensively.

Congrats to Geoff Orr, sophomore, (Orland park Sandburg (a SICA West school, lol), Class of 2002), for being named MAC Player of the Week for Miami of Ohio.

John...I'll pass your congrats on to Geoff. He worked hard during the off season and it's paid off. I've been following Ryan in the papers..please pass on our congrats to him also. Yeah, Team! National NJCCA polls came out today. Son's JUCO- College of Lake County ranks 11th in nation for JUCO Div 11 ! Way to go guys! P.S. This leaves Coach Hanson 13 wins away from his 1000th career win!

Michigan State has won 10 in a row. With freshman Sean Walker(Carmel), Clay Kovak(Mundelein), and Craig Brookes (Naperville Central) all playing well.

Good for all of them, Peter. Should be better next year when you arrive on campus.

My understanding is that Walker was undrafted due to his poor attitude. Would not take batting practice with the team, etc. He is a man among boys.

I love good JUCO talk here, Nice job to coach Hanson, and the Lake County squad. My son commited to Onley Central College, this year rated # 15, D1 JUCO, at 26 wins 4 losses. Nice job to Coach Conely down at Onley Central.

From my experience with Sean he has worked hard and never had a bad attitude. I worked out with him over the winter and he looked like he was in much better shape and he was eager to get extra swings and participate in voluntary speed and agility work outs. You don't get to be as strong as he is by not working hard.

longtoss, until 19 responded to your assertion that sean walker was less than perfect i was willing to let it go. tread lightly on our players of the year. MSU got a good one . i can tell you that the FSU coaches, players and fans noticed him in tallahassee. he stands out as a freshman hitter.
