waynek - Last year my son's HS sent his in immediately (end of May) and it was the end of July I believe - maybe even into August before it was processed. It was only done then because a coach that was following him called and requested the info.

If your son has signed, that coach can call and it will be completed more timely.
It varies. Verify with the school that they have sent in the final transcript, its not automatic and usually requires a signed release. Then, IMO, if your senior is not cleared by the end of July, request that the school send a duplicate transcript. Don't panic, you have until school/fall ball starts to get cleared but you're doing all the right stuff by keeping an eye on your son's online Clearinghouse status.

Well, just spoke with the guidance counselor who says she doesn't send anything to the Clearinghouse until the beginning of the student's senior year. She said that will be fine. I told her I had heard that it was supposed to be sooner, she says no. And by the way, "This is my last day until late August, so, have a nice summer!"
My son is an '06 and we're still "pending" with the NCAA Clearinghouse. They have everything they need, but say that paperwork is processed in the order it is received. I'm not going to worry since its out of our hands. I would imagine that many '06 grads will be waiting till the last weeks of summer before the requests are processed.
Thanks for the post... it reminded my to check the website and see where we stand!
We were in a different situation in that we were getting certification from a 2004 graduation (went to an NAIA school out of high school and didn't go through the clearinghouse at that time). Upon transferring to an NCAA school we went back to the Clearinghouse in order to meet all the standards of a "qualifier." It took about 3 weeks for them to acknowledge receipt of the high school transcript. At that point I called them and they said it would be 10 days to 2 weeks following "receipt" of the transcript. It ended up being about 10 days. days. The entire process took the better part of a month and a half.
The CH has thousands to certify and maybe 5 people doing it!
We were worried about it also but his coach told him he was ready to go before he got there. I think he has a hot line or you can bet your bottom dollar the compliance people at his school was on the phone with them before he got there. You shouldn't worry about it, if you are, call teh compliance department at the school son will be attending.

Your sons should have been pre-qualified already, the final step is the final transcript stamped GRADUATED.

Well, my son went to a BB meeting tonight at the college to sign various NCAA forms. Although the clearing house site showed that they received his final HS transcript in early June, my son is still not finally certified. He received preliminary certification during his junior year. Now the compliance officer says my son can't start practice next week because he doesn't have final certification. What to do now and who to ask? When one hits contact on the site, instead of an email address, you get a list of FAQ's that doesn't help this situation at all.
